Canon 2013 Roadmap Rumor (EOS 7D Mark II In The Second Half 2013)
Canon 2013 roadmap rumor reported by Canon Rumors.
Canon’s 2013 roadmap will see three new DSLRs, two entry-level, one mid-level. One of the former will most probably be the EOS 70D. EOS 60D (price & specs) stocks are getting low, its price is also tumbling down. The other entry-level may be the successor of the Rebel T4i/650D, a Rebel T5i/EOS 700D?
The mid-level camera is supposedly the EOS 7D Mark II, the awaited successor of the EOS 7D (price & specs). The EOS 7D Mark II, seconding the “very reliable source” at CR, should not be announced before the second half of 2013. This fits with the interview with Masaya Maeda, where the Canon manager says that the EOS 7D Mark II will not be announced soon. There should also be a new mirrorless body on the way, let’s say an EOS M2 (hopefully with a more serious AF than the Canon EOS M (price & specs)).
In the lens section, there should be up to four lenses set to be announced in 2013. No mention about type or specs of the lenses, but a new 100-400 L-grade lens can be expected.
That’s it. All in all, nothing really new and more or less what we all were expecting. The interview with Masaya Maeda clearly stated that the EOS 7D Mark II would not have been announced at CP+, or anywhere soon. Oh, almost forgot it. Rumors are saying the EOS 70D comes with built-in WiFi. That would be a nice move Canon!

5 months ago |I think that the sensor will be more than a 60D, who now will be surprised by 18 MP + WiFi. At Nikon, and Sony already has a 24 Mp in the entry level.

5 months ago |I’m just stepping into the game… Do you guys think I should hold off to see what the specs are on the 70d or the 7d2 or get a 7d and put Magic Lantern on it… Or go with the Panasonic gh3?

3 months ago |So, the 70D was rumored to be announced this friday but canonrumors now states that another rebel will be introduced instead. This could mean that canon may actually try to come up from behind in an effort to make the 70d into a worthy competitor for Nikon’s D7100. They would have to improve speed, sensor (especially:their 18mp is just too soft) , af, weather sealing and revisit the 60d’s poor button lay-out for new buyers to even become visible on the horizon but Canon does have the articulating touch screens and fast frame video, something Nikon has neglected because of their extremely conservative existing customer base. So unlikely to succeed, but at least canon is putting in some effort. It would have to be a small wonder though.
