Canon EOS M Firmware Update Performance with EF-M 11-22mm IS STM Lens

EOS M Firmware Update

Thanks to Daero Lee (YouTube) we have some videos showing how the upcoming firmware update for the Canon EOS M performs with the new EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens.If I got it right, a pre-production model of the 11-22mm was used. For the time being, the EF-M 11-22mm IS STM lens can be pre-ordered at Amazon Germany and at DigitalRev.

The firmware update for the EOS M seems to hold what it promises: a definitely faster auto-focus. The AF performance was the EOS M’s biggest issue, and that’s a pity, since the EOS M is a wonderful little camera with an amazing image quality. If the firmware update delivers a better AF (and it looks as if it will do), then the EOS M could have a big comeback, especially if you consider that the price is now much lower than when the EOS M was introduced.

The first video shows Touch AF performance.

Cool. So now where can I get the update? I don’t wanna wait 😉

Also, any word on when the 11-22mm might actually start filtering through?

the firmware update should be available for download on June 27. No dates for the 11-22mm.

I hope with the new firmware update they won’t rise the price again. Here in Europe I can get the kit with flash with a low price that very worth considering over Nex o Fuji cameras. Btw will they release any new mirrorless camera this year ?

Just got a EOS M 18-55 kit from Canon Canada’s eStore that had Firmware v. 2.0.2 preinstalled (lens firmware 2.0). Now, I have nothing to compare it to, but I am quite impressed with the speed of the AF!

Just downloaded update and it works fine. Makes a decent camera even better. With cashback offer from Canon only cost £350 stirling here in the UK with 18-55 & flash!
