Canon patent for EF-S 55-200mm f/4-6.3 STM lens

EF-S 55-200mm

Canon patent for an EF-S 55-200mm f/4-6.3 STM lens. No mention of IS in the patent, that’s weird. For the time being there is an EF-M 55-200mm IS STM lens for the EOS M system.

Hard to say if this patent will ever hit the market. A similar telephoto lens for EF-S mount exists, the similar specced EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. Note that the optical formula in the Canon patent mentions an f/6.3 max aperture at telephoto lens. Could be another kit lens option, or just one of the many patents filed by Canon.
