While the Internet is still discussing if the recently leaked EOS R5 and EOS R6 rumors are anything near to reliable, here are some guys who think Canon will cripple the EOS R5 with a hammer (like).

Don’t take the folks at Camera Conspiracies too seriously. The intent is sardonic if not sarcastic. Never the less, they might have some good points. Enjoy.

The Canon EOS R5 is rumored to come with some amazing features, and that’s the reason some people think they are not real (the feats in bold are said to be more likely to be real).

  • It will not be named Canon EOS Rs but R5
  • 45mp full frame CMOS sensor
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
    • 5 stops with IBIS alone
    • 7-8 stops of correction when used with in-lens stabilization
  • 12fps mechanical, 20fps electronic
  • Scroll wheel added to the back
  • No touch bar
  • Liveview/Movie toggle like previous EOS DSLRs
  • Larger capacity battery, but looks like the LP-E6
  • 8K@30fps RAW
  • 4K@120fps
  • 4K@60fps
  • Built-in 5GHz WiFi
  • New battery, but the same shape and compatibility as the EOS 5D Mark IV
  • Announcement ahead of CP+ next month
  • Shipping in July 2020 

Canon Told US One Year Ago That An 8K Capable Canon EOS R Camera Is Coming

If you follow us, you’ve seen the latest Canon EOS R5 rumors. And if you did, you might be scratching your head because of the rumored 8K @30fps.

Thanks to an attentive user of CW, it turns out Canon anticipated an EOS R model with 8K video already one year ago (sorry, I forgot). In an interview with Imaging Resource, a Canon exec said:

Video will play a huge role in the EOS R System for sure. For example, an 8K video capable camera is already in our EOS R-series roadmap

However, the “EOS-R-series roadmap” could easily extend over the next 5 years, and nothing in the interview suggests that the Canon EOS R5 will feature 8K video. But then, it has been said by a Canon executive, so at least you can be sure that it will be featured on some future EOS R camera. Now it’s to see how far in the future this EOS R camera is.

One thing is sure: if the EOS R5 comes with 8K, then Sony might be in serious troubles.

Canon Rumor: An RF 100-500mm Lens For The EOS R Might Get Released This Year

A new Canon rumor came up. There are reasons to believe that Canon will release one more lens after the RF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.

The second lens for the Canon EOS R system that might get announced in 2020 is rumored to be the RF 100-500mm. For the time of writing, we don’t know if it will be an “L” lens (expensive) or a more budget-oriented one. I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes as an “L” lens.

No specifications have leaked so far for the RF 100-500mm. However, if the rumor is reliable then we will soon see images and specs.

Canon Rebel T8i Rumor – Announcement Likely In February 2020 (and images and specs)

UPDATE: images and specifications just leaked. The Canon Rebel T8i is named EOS 850D in Europe.

  • 24.1 million pixels
  • DIGIC 8
  • All-cross 45-point AF
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF
  • 4K@30p video without cropping
  • 3-inch 104 million-dot touch-panel vari-angle LCD
  • Continuous shooting of about 7.0 frames per second (about 7.5 frames per second in live view)
  • 131.0 x 102.6 x 76.2 mm 515g (including battery)

Here is a Canon Rebel T8i rumor.

According to always well informed Nokishta, the Canon Rebel T8i is set to be announced in February 2020.

So, now we know that there will be at least two new Canon cameras to get announce in February 2020. The other one is the Canon EOS R5.

Canon EOS R6 Rumor – Is A 20MP EOS R Camera Coming?

While we still have to decide what to think about the latest Canon EOS R5 rumor, here we are with a first time Canon EOS R6 rumor.

Not sure where these monikers come from, if they are Canon’s or just made up by the rumor mills. However, an alleged specification list for an alleged Canon EOS R6 (previously rumored as EOS Rm) camera surfaced over the web, and here it is:

  • 20mp full frame CMOS sensor
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
  • 12fps mechanical and 20fps electronic.
  • 4K@60p
  • New battery (might be the same as the EOS R5)
  • Announcement in May 2020
  • Starts shipping in June 2020

We are not really convinced of this specification list. As little as we are of the EOS R5 spec list (which still seems to be too good to be true).

Time will tell. In the meantime stay tuned for the next Canon EOS R6 rumor.
