The Fujifilm GFX 50s

Most of the reviews on the Fuji amount to this: fabulous sensor, great IQ, a good start but still some rough edges in the hardware. Definitely not yet the complete system that Canon offers but for some uses may be just what someone needs or wants.

That being said, the Fuji is intriguing, and does represent a breakthrough for medium format in terms of price and portable size. The AF seems to be a big leap up from other MF too.

Overall, good job for Fuji. They have tried to create something different and succeeded. It’s an intriguing system and will only get better over time.

It would make more sense to compare it to the Sony A7Rii since both cameras have a Sony sensor and it would be a fairer comparison

Most reviews find the A7Rii to be fairly close to matching the image quality ( the MF camera being slightly better)

Jim Kasson is an engineer who also has a website about photography. He has been testing the Fuji extensively, and most of his comparisons are against the Sony. It’s an interesting read and very detailed.

His conclusions: as you say in many ways the Sony is close, but in some ways, the Fuji is clearly superior. You should check it out. I would post the link but the commenting platform will not allow that but you can look it up yourself.
