This is a very interesting patent, a patent that hopefully points to something that will hit the market.
The patent refers to an adapter for a full-frame mirrorless camera. The adapter has a switch to change between EF and EF-S lenses.
May a full-frame mirrorless camera by Canon finally be on its way?
[via Egami]Canon published a product advisory regarding counterfeit 600EX-RT Speedlites. [via TDP]
Canon product advisory:
We have confirmed that there are counterfeit Speedlite 600EX-RT flash products in circulation in the market. It has been reported that these products are being sold through various online marketplace websites. These counterfeit products have not been designed or manufactured by Canon, but fraudulently display the Canon logo, and may also fraudulently display other Canon and third party trademarks. Furthermore, these counterfeit products have not been manufactured or tested under the safety standards established by Canon, so we are unable to make representations concerning their safe operation, and there is a possibility that using one of these counterfeit products may cause adverse affects such as generation of fire and/or smoke.
The safety of our consumers is our utmost concern. Unlike genuine Canon products, counterfeit products may not meet government and industry safety standards. To ensure that you’re buying genuine Canon products, we recommend purchasing from a Canon Authorized Dealer or directly from Canon. Please be advised that Canon is not responsible for any malfunction, accident, or damage related to the use of any counterfeit product.
It has also been confirmed that the radio transmission wireless shooting function incorporated into genuine Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flashes is not incorporated into the counterfeit product. This missing feature will limit the performance of the counterfeit flash, as compared with a genuine Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flash.
We truly appreciate your attention to this matter and thank you for being a valued Canon customer.
The following tips may help you to identify a counterfeit Speedlite 600EX-RT flash. Please note, however, that other counterfeits may display other, or additional, differences from genuine Canon products. As such, you should contact Canon using the contact information below if you have any questions about whether you are using a genuine Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flash.
Thank you for using Canon products.

Photography Blog posted their Canon Rebel T6i/EOS 750D review. From the conclusion:
[…] the 750D […] is arguably the most significant generational leap forward since the 550D. Granted, on the outside it’s almost identical to its predecessor, but given the 700D’s ergonomics, control layout and touch interface are already excellent, that’s no bad thing. The big changes are under the skin, starting with the superb 24.2MP APS-C sensor. It gives the 750D the ability to generate incredibly clean images with low enough noise levels to make even ISO 12800 shots stand up to close scrutiny. Detail and colour reproduction are also first class, and the new exposure metering system delivers consistent results.
The EOS 750D/Rebel T6i gets a “Highly Recommended” and a rating of 4.5/5. Read the review at Photography Blog.

Is the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II ready for production? That’s what a new rumor suggests.
The rumor doesn’t come with an announcement date, but Fall 2015 is a good candidate. The rumored specifications:
Apparently Canon delayed the announcement of the EF 35mm f/1.4L II because the company is still trying to produce enough units of other high demand lenses.
[via CR]Edit: decided to downrate the rumor to CW1. The message was not clear enough and honestly I think this is just a hoax.
Original post:
I got a somewhat weird rumor today (thanks). The rumor suggests Canon is working on a 36MP full-frame monochrome sensor.
According to the source, the success of Leica’s monochrome cameras has influenced Canon and motivated the company to produce their own b&w full-frame sensor. The sensor, still according to the source, could be announced in the first week of July 2015.
The rest of the message is a bit confusing. I am not sure I’ve got everything correctly. The source names an “A7 body and FE lens mount” and that a “slimline lens mount adapter for Canon and Nikon” will be available for the rumored b&w, full-frame DSLR. The source never names a “Canon DSLR”, only a “Canon sensor”. Sounds like a Sony DSLR with a Canon sensor! Is this in the realm of possibilities? :-)
Well, this will not be the DSLR featuring the Canon 18MP sensor that’s rumored since a while. Canon making a monochrome full-frame DSLR doesn’t sound totally absurd to me. However, new source and big amount of salt. What do you think?
