Canon EOS R5 Overheating Soap Opera – A User Made Issue?

Canon Eos R5 Overheating

Let’s go back to one of the most hilarious attacks on a new Canon camera I’ve ever seen. The infamous Canon EOS R5 overheating issue.

If you follow us on Canon Watch you likely know that we always thought (and said) that it wasn’t a real issue, and that Canon had disclosed very transparently the limits for 4K and 8K video on the EOS R5. Needless to say that it never was an issue for those taking stills. At the end of the day it depends on how much you push the R5. The whole overheating hysteria was started by the usual suspects, a bunch of Canon hating video guys who always attack Canon’s new cameras.

Deaf Director posted his Canon EOS R5 review, and talks about the EOS R5 overheating issue. In his own words: “A real world look at the Canon R5’s overheating issues after 8 months of continuous use, and tips for how you can work around it.”

More Canon EOS R5 review stuff is listed here (many reviews), for EOS R6 review stuff see here. The EOS R5 is highly regarded as a stills camera. In particular, the EOS R5 autofocus system seems to be huge leap forwards. The official Canon EOS R5 user guide and manual are available for download: EOS R5, and for the EOS R6 too.

Canon Eos 5d Mark Iv Firmware

The previous released Canon EOS 5D Mark IV firmware update was pulled, here is a new firmware version.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV firmware update version 1.3.3 has been released. Guess point 4 was the reason they pulled the previous version.

Firmware version 1.3.3 incorporates the following fixes:

  1. Improves the camera’s connection compatibility to a PC while using a USB 3.0 or higher compatible cable.
  2. Fixes an issue, in which self-timer shooting cannot be performed in Firmware Version 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
  3. Fixes an issue, in which an electronic beep does not sound when registering an AF frame as the AF start position in Firmware Version 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
  4. Fixes an issue, in which a small sound is generated from the speaker when the power is turned on in Firmware Version 1.3.2.

*Item 1 applies to Version 1.3.2, whereas Items 2 through 4 apply to Version 1.3.3.

Always reliable Nokishita posted on Twitter that Canon will release an RF 14-35mm f/4L lens for the EOS R system. Along with the lens hood EW-83P. The lens was rumored since a while, now we can expect it to get announced soon. Pictures of the lens will likely surface very soon.

No specifications for the time being. Stay tuned.

Three Canon EOS R Models With APS-C Sensor Coming, Sooner or Later?

Canon Firmware Updates Viltrox Eos R7 Eos R10 Reuters Canon Cameras Europe Canon Eos R1 Eos R Rf 14-35mm Olympic Games Ef-mount Rudy Winston

As if it wasn’t enough to have a years long rumor about an unlikely Canon EOS R model with APS-C sensor, now we have three (3) such cameras that are rumored.

Coming from Canon Rumors, this new, low rated rumor adds even more absurdity to the queue. Three Canon EOS R models with APS-C are said to get announced one day. Oh, and obviously the EOS M system is declared death once more.

The first of the EOS R cameras with APS-C imaging sensor that are rumored is the EOS R7, which, could it be otherwise?, will replace the EOS 7D Mark II. This one might get announced towards the end of 2021, according to the source. But that an EOS R model with crop sensor might get announced within the year is said every 6 months since 3 years.

Next one in the cabinet of unlikely events is the EOS R8, said to be the tool for vloggers and other video people. No dates here.

Next, we have the EOS R9, said to be an entry-level camera.

Honestly, we still don’t think this will happen. We get similar rumors but so far refrained from posting since we do not buy it. Maybe there will be an RF mount camera with APS-C in the future, and with future we mean “in the future”. We just can’t see Canon killing the EOS M system, as these traffic driving rumors love to state. It’s a best selling system.

Feel free to politely share your opinion.
