Canon will showcase the company’s new EOS C700, a professional full frame Cinema camera announced March 2018. The Canon EOS C700 can be pre-ordered for $33,000 at B&H Photo and Adorama.
MELVILLE, N.Y., May 31, 2018 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will showcase its newest digital cinema products in Booth #12 at Cine Gear Expo 2018 in Los Angeles.
Visitors to the Canon booth will have the opportunity to experience the full range of Canon Cinema cameras and lenses, 4K reference displays, and DSLR cameras and lenses, including the recently announced EOS C700 FF Cinema Camera. Available in EF or PL mount, the EOS C700 FF features a 5.9K full-frame sensor with built-in anamorphic de-squeeze capabilities and RAW capture. The camera will be on display paired with the CN-E20mm T1.5 LF F lens, the latest addition to Canon’s line of CN-E prime lenses. Canon’s newest 4K HDR reference display, the 24-inch DP-V2421, will also be available for hands-on demonstrations, showcasing on-set HDR functionality.
Cine Gear attendees will be able to learn more about Canon’s CarePAK PRO Extended Service Plan, which recently expanded to include professional video and cinema products. Canon CarePAK PRO offers coverage from accidental damage such as drops, spills and power surges, protecting customer investments from unforeseen repair costs and excessive downtime. In addition to showcasing products and professional service and support offerings, Canon will host a series of panel discussions and educational seminars. Machang Optics announced the development of the Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 lens. The Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 will be available for Canon EOS M systems, and for Sony E, Fuji X, and M4/3 mounts.
Starting from June 1, 2018, you’ll be able to order it for $199 on this Kickstarter page (where you can also view a gallery of sample images). Delivery is expected for August 2018.
28mm are 42mm equivalent when used with APS-C bodies, so this becomes a normal view lens on crop sensors.

One of the key strengths of the Kamland 28mm f/1.4 is its high degree of color accuracy and richness. Unlike some competing lenses, it does not introduce too much color cast to images but instead delivers a neutral, accurate color rendition even wide open, that will be useful to both stills photographers and video users as well.
The lens utilizes high quality optical glass with higher levels of refraction to help shape light more efficiently and to produce lower chromatic aberrations. Chromatic aberrations are noticeably more controlled than on competing lenses.
In real-world shooting there are minimal chromatic aberrations on the Kamlan 28mm f/1.4, and what aberrations do exist are easily corrected.

Canon EOS-1V at a glance:
Canon officially discontinued the Canon EOS-1V, the company’s last film camera.
The Canon EOS-1V, introduced in 2000, ends Canon’s 80 years lasting film camera business. The EOS-1V was the last professional film camera, and repair service will be available until October 31, 2025.
As Sankei reports, the production of the Canon EOS-1V stopped in 2010. Since then, Canon was selling the EOS-1V out of their inventory.
The EOS-1V is listed as no longer available at specialised retailers as B&H Photo and Adorama. but still can be found on eBay.
Nikon is now the last big player with professional film cameras on offer, the Nikon F6 and Nikon FM10

Canon released a product advisory for the Canon EOS 70D.
We would like to offer our sincere apologies to users who have been inconvenienced by the phenomenon described below. We value the trust our customers have placed in us, and we are dedicated to continuously improving product quality as well as delivering industry-leading service and support.
In rare cases, error 70*1 or error 80*1 may repeatedly display on some EOS 70D digital SLR cameras due to an internal communication failure resulting from the structure of the electrical printed circuit board. If use of the camera is subsequently continued, a state may occur in which the camera’s power does not turn on. In most cases, this phenomenon occurs in conjunction with continuous use of the camera while the camera’s internal temperature is high, such as when shooting movies continuously.
“Err 70” or “Err 80” will appear on the LCD monitor at the back of the camera or on the LCD panel at the top of the camera.
*1There may be rare occurrences of error 70 or error 80, after which the camera functions can be recovered by turning the power off and on again, or by re-installing and reinserting the battery. The phenomenon described here refers to the frequent reoccurrence of error 70 or error 80.
Only some EOS 70D digital SLR cameras are affected by this phenomenon.
The phenomenon may occur only in cameras whose first two digits in its serial number are within the range of “00” to “22”.
EOS 70D digital SLR cameras on which error 70 or error 80 occurs repeatedly and that have a serial number within the range specified above will be inspected/repaired free of charge. Please note that inspection/repairs for any other issue will be handled as normal repairs.
If you wish to make a request for the free inspection/repairs, please bring the camera body only with the body cap attached to a Canon Service Center.
If you have not already done so, please register your EOS 70D so that we will be able to notify you via email about any future service upgrades.
