[Rumor] EF 40mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens
Looks like Canon will announce a new, affordable so-called pancake lens in June (no, not the one in the picture above), together with the T4i/650D and a mirrorless camera. “pancake” because such a lens is small and light. It’s rumored to be an EF 40mm f/2.8, and it will not be an “L” lens. Price should be <$300. This would be a nice addition to the huge Canon lenses family. An EF-S 18-135 IS II is also rumored to be announced in June. Lot’s of news coming from Canon next month!

BTW , PANCAKE Lens seems will be good for Rebals , for the 7D, 5Ds or 1Ds……it had no different as the body size is already bulky.
Nvm , more choice is always welcome.
P.S.: Only talk about the outlook, if the lens are Red rings (L) / Green rings(DO) , then it will be very awesome!

2 years ago |A pancake would still be welcome on a larger body like the 5d series…I find that it’s often the lens size that makes carrying a dslr the most cumbersome option…
Also, perhaps this pancake lens will be a lens to not only use on your dslr but on the new Canon mirrorless…I assume the Canon will offer an adaptor that will allow you to use their EF lenses on the mirrorless…and this pancake lens would be a good sized lens to use on both, and to introduce people to this concept…
