Photographer and reviewer Dustin Abbott published the full review of the Sigma 28mm F1.4 DG ART lens. A lens that catches a lot of attention.

Among the things D. Abbott liked are the excellent build quality, quick and accurate AF, sharpness starting at f1.4, bokeh, contrast, well controlled chromatic aberrations, and more.

From his conclusion:

In many ways the Sigma 28mm F1.4 ART is the lens that the 35mm F1.4 ART should have been.  It delivers better focus accuracy, richer image quality, and has a superior build.  I would actually like to see Sigma build a 35mm F1.4 ART Mark II in the future and update it with some of the experience gleaned since its release (it was the first of the ART series lenses).  The only negative that I can point to by comparison is that the price has crept up to where the 28ART can no longer be considered a bargain even if it is cheaper than direct competitors.  And that may be the primary obstacle to it being a sales success for Sigma.  The 28mm focal length is not intensely popular (though incredibly useful), so the price tag (though probably warranted by performance) may be steeper than many want to pay. 

If you want a premium 28mm lens, however, it’s hard to rule out the Sigma 28mm F1.4 ART.  It does so many things very well, and produces truly beautiful images.  What more could you ask for?

Canon patent application 2019-0113711 (USA) describes the optical formula for an RF 50mm f/1.8 and RF 28mm f/1.8 lens, both for the Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system.

It’s likely Canon will launch these non-L lenses sooner than later. Both are popular focal lengths on full frame, and it’s also likely Canon is set to offer some less expensive (aka budget) lenses for the EOS R system.

Sigma Adds Three New Lenses to Its Cine Lens Lineup

Brand new introductions to the FF High Speed Prime Line – 28mm T1.5 FF, 40mm T1.5 FF and 105mm T1.5 FF – will be debuted at IBC2018

September 11, 2018 – Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the development of three new Sigma Cine lenses in the FF High Speed Prime Line: 28mm T1.5 FF, 40mm T1.5 FF and 105mm T1.5 FF. With these additions, the FF High Speed Prime Line now includes ten lenses covering 14mm to 135mm and T1.5 to T2, giving cinematographers even more options to empower their artistic expression and take their cinematic vision to the next level.

Available for test-shooting at the 2018 IBC Show in Amsterdam from September 14-18, 2018, attendees are welcome to visit the Sigma booth 12.D64 to get hands-on with the new cine lenses.

New Models in the Sigma Cine FF High Speed Prime Line
All the lenses in the FF High Speed Prime Line, including the brand new 28mm T1.5 FF, 40mm T1.5 FF and 105mm T1.5 FF, are compatible with full-frame image sensors and optimized for ultra-high-resolution 6K-8K shooting.

All three lenses come in PL, EF and E mounts with lens support foot and cap included. The 105mm T1.5 FF is expected to start shipping in October 2018, the 40mm T1.5 FF in the end of 2018, and the 28mm T1.5 FF in early 2019. Development of LPL Mount
In the future, the Sigma Cine lens series will include an LPL mount, the new lens mount optimized for the large format sensor released by ARRI in 2018. The planned release date for the Sigma Cine lenses in LPL mount is 2019 or later.
