Description:

The all-rounder with the special Trioplan-Bokeh

Our Trioplan 50 f2.8 II has been redesigned from scratch. A new mechanical design based on the Trioplan 100 f2.8 II now offers photographers an excellent handling of the 50mm focal length from the Trioplan family. By optimizing the optical design, it is now possible to focus on infinite sharpness even at aperture f2.8 and thus nothing stands in the way of versatile use. Of course, the Trioplan 50 f2.8 II also draws the famous soapbubble bokeh and at shorter distances a light swirl is created in the bokeh of the image. Like all current Meyer Optik Görlitz lenses, the Trioplan 50 f2.8 II was also designed for full format, but can of course also be used on APS-C cameras.

Historical model in a new guise

Through the use of high-quality materials and the latest manufacturing technologies, the more than 100-year history of the Trioplan 50 has been cast into modern moulds. Of course, the character of the Trioplan 50 was taken into account and implemented accordingly. Our Trioplan 50 f2.8 II offers photographers an individual picture language and at the same time the versatile possibilities of a 50mm focal length. Of course the Trioplan 50 is manufactured for the most common mounts of modern cameras: Canon EF, Nikon F, Fuji X, Sony E, Pentax K, M42, Micro-Four-Thirds, Leica M and Leica L.

The unique style of Trioplan

In addition to the well-known soapbubble bokeh, which is created most strongly in backlight situations, the Trioplan 50 f2.8 II draws a light swirl at close range. The versatility of a 50mm focal length or a so-called “normal lens” makes the Trioplan Bokeh suitable for many applications such as street/reportage, portrait and nature photography. Due to the natural-looking viewing angle at 50mm fixed focal lengths, the certain something is missing in some photographs and that’s exactly what the Trioplan with its wonderful Bokeh can contribute. By using macro-rings, you can profit from the special bokeh of the Trioplan 50 f2.8 II even in the macro range.

Upcoming Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens Shows Up At Certification Authority

Canon Rf 50mm F/1.8

We knew Canon was working on a Nifty-Fifty for the EOS R camera system. Now the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 showed up at a certification authority.

Two lenses with SKUs 4514C005 and 4515C005 have been registered, and it seems 4515C005 refers to the upcoming Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM. The lens already got rumored, and a pertinent patent was spotted.

The Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM was rumored to get announced in 2020 but it looks as if it will come in 2021 unless Canon does another announcement session this year, which seems unlikely. And the other registered lens…?

ZY Optics Announced Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95, designed for Canon EF

Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm F/0.95

ZY Optics announced the Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 lens. The Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 was designed for the Canon EF mount and will sell at $799.

The Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 is available also for the Canon EOS R system at $679.

Press release:

ZY Optics releases the Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95, especially designed for Canon EF cameras.

World’s only f/0.95 lens designed for DSLR systems in production

Zhongyi Optics (ZY Optics) have released the new Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 for Canon EF mount cameras. The new 50mm lens has a different optical design from the mirrorless version and it is currently the world’s only f/0.95 lens designed for DSLR cameras. Due to the large size of the rear element, the new 50mm f/0.95 lens cannot be made into Nikon version unfortunately.

Offering a natural 50mm perspective along with an ultra-fast f/0.95 maximum aperture, the Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 is a compact prime characterized by its bright f/0.95 aperture to suit working in low-light conditions. It also affords a great degree of control over depth-of-field for
isolating subjects from the background and producing selective focus effects.

A carefully-designed 12 elements in 6 groups optics system with 1pc of HRI (High Refractive Index) & 5pcs of UD (Ultra-low dispersion) elements successfully minimizes the chromatic aberrations and delivers exceptional image quality.

An eleven-blade diaphragm helps to produce a softly diffused out-of-focus rendering (bokeh). The enclosure of the lens is made of metal to strengthen its durability. A 82mm filter thread is equipped for mounting screw-in filters easily.

ZY Optics have been releasing f/0.95 lenses for different camera systems. A mirrorless design of 50mm f/0.95 (III) had been released in 2019 and is available in Sony FE, Canon RF & Nikon Z mounts.

Pricing & Availability

Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f/0.95 Canon EF is now available to ship and purchase at ZY Optics official website (http://www.zyoptics.net/). The Recommended Retail price (before tax) is USD 799/pc.

Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L Review (a seriously good lens)

Canon Rf Mount Canon RF 50mm F/1.2L Review Canon Rf Lenses

Here is a Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L review. This lens for the EOS R system is an optical masterpiece, heavy, bulky, and pricey. Never the less, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L is a remarkable lens, made to showcase the capabilities of the RF mount.

Ted Forbes of The Art of Photography discusses all the goods and amazing features of the super fast Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L. The lens is also pretty unique, as Ted Forbes lines out.

Canon started big with their first round of RF mount lenses for their mirrorless system. The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2 L is a seriously good lens. Its versatile enough to be very sharp, but can also shoot wide open for some gorgeous and often abstract bokeh rendering. Building on the EF 50mm f/1.2, Canon corrected many of the aberrations and give us a sharper, high resolving lens. This does come with some tradeoffs – this lens is big. Its also very heavy and the price is not cheap. But if you’re willing to sacrifice some of the conveniences of portability for image quality – this lens is well worth the entry price.

Its also worth noting at the time I’m filming this – there is no equivalent to this lens in any mirrorless system. Nikon only have a 50mm f/1.8 and Sony have several options – but only at f/1.8 and f/1.4. This is a unique lens with a beautiful rendering and performance.

Enjoy the video, and thanks for being here and reading.

Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L Review Sample Photos (D. Abbott)

Canon Rf Mount Canon RF 50mm F/1.2L Review Canon Rf Lenses

Dustin Abbott posted a set of Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L review sample pictures.

The Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L is one of the “boutique lenses” for the EOS R full frame mirrorless system, i.e. a lens made to show off the capabilities of the RF mount. No reviewer had ever to be unhappy with the performance of this lens.

Dustin Abbott says:

Canon has also started to deliver on what was clearly the greatest strength of the platform – the new RF mount and all its potential.  While the bargain lenses for the RF mount are still few (though thankfully some third party support has started to come), Canon has delivered a number of their very best lenses yet on the RF mount…and one of those is the Canon RF 50mm F1.2L, which is one of the best performing 50mm lenses, well, ever.  It’s large, heavy, and expensive, but is also one amazing piece of kit.
