Since Canon so far does not allow to use sample images shot with the Canon EOS 70D, the video above (by What Digital Camera) compares the EOS 70D with the Canon EOS 7D discussing the features of both cameras. Korean site Dicahub (translated) had the chance to test a pre-production model of the Canon EOS 70D. They provide two videos where they tested the Dual Pixel CMOS AF of the EOS 70D. The video above is interesting: see how the EOS 70D keeps the focus on the subject running towards the camera. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF really works great, it is impressive. Sample shots are also available (click here). They also posted a size comparison between the Canon Rebel SL1 and the Canon EOS 70D. More video and sample pics after the break.

Thanks to Thierry for having investigated this. It appears as if the release date for the Canon EOS 70D isn’t clearly defined so far. Online seller report different dates for the release.
In France, online resellers FNAC and Boulanger still reports the 28th of August as release date, while Pixmania has the 8th of November as a candidate release date. Amazon France now has the 25th of October as release date.
In Germany, Amazon DE also has the 25th of October set as release date, Pixmania DE has the 8th of November.
Amazon UK also reports the 25th of October, Amazon US lists the 15th of September. No release date reported by B&H, nor does Adorama. No release date at DigitalRev.

At least that is what both Amazon France and Amazon Germany write on their EOS 70D product page. The EOS 70D was said to be released by the end of August 2013, but maybe that’s true just for the US and in Europe we have to wait somewhat longer. Thanks to reader Thierry for pointing me to this.
