The new Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II lens will not ship before December 10, 2016. That’s what authorized retailer B&H Photo states on the product page. Amazon US says it will ship after December 6th.

Another new Canon gear no one knows when it will start shipping at Canon US retailers is the Canon W-E1 WiFi adapter. However, it’s available on Amazon US by third party sellers.

Canon released firmware version 1.1.0 for the Canon EOS 7D Mark II (download). The most important addition likely being the support for the recently announced Canon W-E1 WiFi adapter.

Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following functional enhancements and improvements:

1. Supports Wi-Fi adapter W-E1.
2. Adds a setting to enable or disable automatic storage of the lens if it is extended out when a gear-driven STM lens*1 is attached, and the power switch is turned to [OFF].
*1 EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, or EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lenses

* In the notification titled “To Users of the EOS 7D Mark II DSLR Camera” posted from August 25 to September 8, there was an error relating to the planned additional functions, so this error has been corrected.
The EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM lens aberration data will not be added by performing this firmware update. The lens aberration correction data can be registered in EOS Utility Ver.3.4.30 or later.

Firmware Version 1.1.0 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.5. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.1.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

When updating the firmware of the camera, please review the instructions thoroughly before you download the firmware.

Canon will release a firmware update for the Canon EOS 7D Mark II in September, the update will introduce support for the recently announced Canon W-E1 WiFi adapter.

Regarding the EOS 7D Mark II digital SLR camera, we are planning to release Firmware Version 1.1.0 for download from the Web in order to enhance the functions.

Changes in the firmware:

We are planning to incorporate the following changes to enhance functions.

1. Wi-Fi adapter W-E1 will be supported.
2. A setting will be added to enable or disable automatic storage of the lens if it is extended out when a gear-driven STM lens*1 is attached, and the power switch is turned to [OFF].
*1 EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, or EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lenses
3. Lens optical correction data for the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens will be added to the camera.

Some new tidbits about the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV emerged. Nokishita Camera reports that the EOS 5D Mark IV will be released in Japan on September 8th. This fits with a rumor I got suggesting the EOS 5D Mark IV will start shipping in the US before September 14th.

The EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM and EF 16-35mm F2.8L III USM lenses are scheduled to be released late October and mid October, respectively.

We know the price for the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM ($1,099) and EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM ($2,199) lenses. The EF 24-105mm will most likely start to ship with the EOS 5D Mark IV (it’s a new kit option), while the EF 16-35mm may be seen a bit later, probably in October.
