Two New Canon Lenses To Be Announced On January 8, 2013?

Canon may announce two new “L” lenses on January 8th, 2013, and release them to the public by the end of March. The rumored lenses are the EF 35 f/1.4L II and the EF 14-24 f/2.8L. The EF 35 f/1.4L II is said to have a complete redesign and to feature 2 UD elements.

    Finally a 14-24mm so we won’t need to ‘steal’ the infamous Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 G anymore 😉

Let’s just hope it compares well with the Nikon counterpart, that one had set the standard in extra-wide zoom that will be hard to match…fingers crossed!
Oh yes, and the pricing…please Canon, be a little more sensitive around $$ this time, please!

I agree with everything that Roscoe has to say…I see no reason why Canon cannot match or surpass the IQ of the Nikon super wide zoom. I feel that Canon will deliver here as they have with the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS, the 24-70mm f/2.8L II, (both of which I own). Super wide zooms have not been a strength of Canon…but with the new larger, better quality sensors here and on the horizon..this lens with stellar IQ isa must. I could then run out the door with three lenses and have situations pretty much covered. I would sell my 16-35mm f/2.8L II And my 21mm f/2.8 Zeiss too, just to make it happen.
As Roscoe said above… I would like to see Canon keep the price in the range of the Nikon…but from what I have seen of Canon’s pricing lately…that is not a realistic expectation. I am sure the price will be dear!
