Rumor: Full List Of Next Canon Product Announcements (Friday March 22)

EOS 700D

The upcoming Canon EOS 700D (Rebel T5i/Kiss X7i)

We got a series of rumors and leaks (here, here, here) during the last day. And now we have what most probably is the complete list of what Canon is going to announce next Friday (March 22nd):

The following is a list of Canon's new product will be announced in Korea:

– PowerShot SX280 HS

– PowerShot SX270 HS

– PowerShot A2500 (in certain overseas previously announced)

– (In Japan previously announced) IXUS 255 HS

– EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

– EOS 700D 18-55 STM KIT (in Japan Kiss X7i)

– EOS 700D 18-135 STM KIT (in Japan Kiss X7i)

– EOS 100D 18-55 STM KIT (in Japan Kiss X7)

– EOS 100D (in Japan Kiss X7)

As you can see, the name of the new extra-small Canon DSLR should be EOS 100D (and not EOS-b). Funny that they used a 3 digit name and not a 4 digit name, typical for the most entry level Canon DSLRs.

Perhaps it’s 3 digit name cause it’ll be more advanced camera than an entry-level one?
Cause you know – small, entry-level camera isn’t anything new: Sony did it with A33/35/37 for years. More advanced one would make a difference though.

and what all the world has waited fore.. the 70D will not be announced.

    canon never dissapoints to dissapoint.

What the world is truly waiting for is Canon’s next full frame sensor, with high resolution and improved DR. A.K.A their answer to Nikon D800.

2nd on the list is the 35L II, 14-24L, 135L f/1.8 IS, and a bunch of other lenses.

After all of that, they can feel free to give us new cropcopters (70D, 7D2, e.t.c.). :P

  • One More Thought

Don’t forget…a lot of us berated the Canon 6D, and now we see that it actually is a very good camera and seems to be selling well for Canon. I’m willing to wait and see and give the EOS 100D a chance.

Here’s what Thom Hogan writes about the new ultra small EOS…
So let’s examine what we know about Canon’s probable new entry: the EOS B is 13 ounces (camera body), same as the Olympus OM-D E-M5. It’s a bit less wide, about an inch taller, and an inch deeper. The EOS B is actually thinner than a GH3 (and less overall area). The question is this: how far do you have to reduce DSLR size in order to effectively erase the size/weight advantage of the mirrorless systems?

…At 18mp APS and US$800 for the kit, the EOS B looks mighty competitive with a lot of the mirrorless players, yet retains the phase detect autofocus and optical view of the DSLRs. Plus there’s all those EF lenses that can mount onto it.
