Canon EOS R5 Review From Phillip Bloom (a hot and messy start)

canon eos r5 review 8k video firmware updste

Here is a Canon EOS R5 review, and as you can easily get from the title, it’s not entirely positive.

Philip Bloom has his take on the Canon EOS R5 in the videos below. He says:

This is my long term “review” of the Canon R5 and I’ve taken a different approach than normal in that I decided to split it into two much parts of a more manageable length. This isn’t about specs, it’s about really living with and using the camera over 4 months.

[…] This is not my usual review, and not strictly a review either. I’ve made two videos which take a look at the Canon R5, the first part is the backstory, the launch and my initial thoughts after buying one. This part is about the experience you get when using it rather than over analysing and going over all the specs as there are countless videos about that. The overheating issues are still a focus, but another focus is the autofocus….with animals. Plus there is a special guest near the end. :)

The overheating issue is also discussed. And here are the two videos. Keep in mind that this is a review coming from a videographer. Enjoy.

Canon PowerShot Zoom Review – The Pocket Telephoto

canon powershot zoom review

The Canon PowerShot Zoom definitely is not shaking up the camera industry. Reviews are scarce, It has been called “old tech in a monocular shell“. Here is an unbiased Canon PowerShot Zoom review.

At a gance:

  • 12.1MP CMOS Sensor
  • 100-400mm Equivalent Optical Zoom
  • One-Touch Switchable Zoom
  • Full HD 1080p Video at 30 fps

The Canon PowerShot Zoom is an inexpensive gadget for fun, photography interested kids, nature fans. Geoffrey Morrison posted his review on Forbes. A sober view on the Canon PowerShot Zoom. Here are some excerpts:

One of its best attributes is how easy it is to use. It can fit in just about any pocket, or hang from a lanyard. Turn it on as you bring it to your eye and it’s ready to go by the time it gets there. The OLED viewfinder is excellent, with great contrast and high resolution.

[…] Image quality is fairly average. If you take the zoom aspect out of the equation, the better mobile phones will have better colors and detail. However, no phone offers the zoom reach of the Zoom

[…] While I could probably buy a used telephoto for $300, it’d be a heavy and bulky addition to my kit. With the Zoom, however, I could have something that I could have in my back pocket on a shoot to capture the occasional closeups or distant interesting bits.
