Photographer Dustin Abbott reviewed the Sigma 60-600mm F/4.5-6.3 OS Sport lens.

He tested the Sigma 60-600mm F/4.5-6.3 OS Sport on various cameras, including a Sony a7 III and a Canon EOS R.

From his conclusion:

The Sigma 60-600mm F/.4.5-6.3 OS HSM Sport is a great achievement.  While I didn’t find it as compelling at 600mm as the 150-600mm Sport lens from Sigma, the 60-600 Sport is capable of producing excellent images across its focal range.  It’s the perfect lens for the individual that feels constricted at times by the 150mm limitation on the wide of the 150-600mm (which I certainly have myself, at times), allowing one to frame a number of wider scenes along with dialing in a tremendous amount of reach on the telephoto end.  While this is unmistakably a very large, very heavy lens, it is commendable that Sigma has managed shave off some weight and noticeably improve the balance of the lens by clever use of advanced materials in the construction.  The 60-600 Sport has a heavy duty, thoroughly weather sealed design.  It also has effective focus and optical stabilization systems, so the complete package is highly functional.

Dustin Abbott’s review comes with a large set of sample photos, all kind of analysis and insights. The video below is the full review to watch.

Photography Blog reviewed the Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM lens, the “bokeh master”. Sigma has landed another winner with this lens

From the conclusion:

Weighing in at well over 1.5kg and sporting a huge 105mm front element, the Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM is a monster of a lens, but thankfully it delivers in the image quality department. Sigma have gone all out to make this the ultimate lens for bokeh lovers, and you certainly won’t be disappointed if that description fits you.

The Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM is a tack-sharp lens, both in the centre and at the edges of the frame, with little evidence of chromatic aberrations and virtually no distortion. Vignetting at wide-open apertures is the only real optical issue of note, something that similarly fast lenses also suffer from, although stopping down to f/4 solves this problem altogether.

As with other recent Sigma lenses that we’ve reviewed, the build quality of the 105mm F1.4 DG HSM is fantastic, with the brass lens mount and sober all-black design adding to the high-quality feel. Read the review at Photography Blog.

Dustin Abbott completed his comprehensive review of the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 Macro ART lens.

From the conclusion;

[…] the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 Macro | ART is a somewhat quirky lens.  It deviates from the path established for the ART series on a number of levels, and also deviates from the modern standard of what a macro lens should have (Image Stabilization, Internal Focus, etc…)  The one area where it is very much a Sigma ART lens is in the optical performance, where it delivers as good a performance as I’ve seen from a macro lens outside of bokeh that is a little busy in some situations.  I’m less impressed by the decision about the focus motor, at least on DSLRs […]

There are many gear reviewers (and review sites) you can find on the web. Very few take it seriously and make their reviews “real world” related and yet highly professional. One of them is Dustin Abbott, who just posted his review of the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART lens, a pretty interesting lens in our opinion. It’s dubbed the “bokeh master”. Guess why.

In the conclusion he writes:

Sigma has once again successfully created an extreme optical instrument. Tackling a project like a 105mm lens with a huge maximum aperture of f/1.4 is not for the faint of heart, and yet I see evidence of growing maturation as Sigma manages to get more and more right. There’s no question that the extreme size and weight of the 105 ART will be off-putting to many, but those with a little extra arm strength will be rewarded with an exceptional portrait lens. The Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART is not a mainstream lens. It isn’t a general-purpose lens; it is a tool for specialists. A lens like the 105 ART can seriously set your work apart from the crowd, providing images unique to those that a standard 70-200mm f/2.8 lens can produce. And for some photographers, that is worth the extra effort. […] The autofocus works well, the images look fantastic, and the build level is high.

D. Abbott’s reviews always come with a lot of sample photos, and all sorts of analysis. For those in a hurry the 23 minutes Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART video review below should do fine.
