This is the best of the other B&H’s EOS M kits, while Amazon has the EOS M with the EF-M 18-55mm IS STM for $319 (click here).
The EOS M still is, despite plenty of not always right critics for the AF (at least since the firmware update), a high performing mirrorless camera with an image quality that’s hard to beat for the competition. Period. :-)
DxOMark published their in-depth analysis of the Canon EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens [shoplink 6095](price & specs)[/shoplink], one of the three available lenses for the Canon EOS M system [shoplink 6091](price & specs)[/shoplink]. The EF-M 18-55mm scores a good 13 points, figures for distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration are very good as is the sharpness of this relatively inexpensive lens ($199).
Tested against the competition – i.e. the Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 and the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 EZ – the EF-M 18-55mm still scores very good and gets one more point.
