A more detailled specifications list of the upcomning Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 leaked over the web. According to the rumor, pre-orders in Japan will start June 30,  2017. The Tamron is expected to start shipping on August 2, 2017.

  • Length: 111 mm (for Canon), 108.5 mm (for Nikon)
  • Weight: 905 g (for Canon), 900 g (for Nikon)
  • Adopting a new control system “dual MPU”, realizes the best image stabilization effect in the class and dramatic improvement in AF accuracy and speed
  • Antifouling coat and simple drip-proof construction adopted
  • A locking mechanism is newly installed in the hood
  • Adopt electromagnetic aperture system for Nikon
  • TAP-in Console compatible

Tamron promises to deliver 5 stops of image stabilisation, thanks to a new technology named “dual MPU”, which I never heard of before.
