Canon patent for LCD viewfinder through magnifying glass

2015_171116_fig012015_171116_fig02

Canon patent for a LCD viewfinder that’s turned on by putting a magnifying glass on the rear display. Sort of EVF on the cheap. The display area on the LCD display is reduced to work with the magnifying glass (that acts as viewfinder). If you look at the images above you can see what I mean. The viewfinder is flipped on the LCD display. If we will ever see this go into production it will likely be featured on entry level cameras.
