Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review (it’s a game changer)

Take an excursion into the EOS 7D Mark II features and strenghts with seasoned video producer Frank Rohmer, as he reveals the top features that professionals will appreciate the most. Rohmer’s review was exclusively shared with Planet5D.

For Rohmer the deal breaker is the “lightning fast” Dual Pixel Auto-Focus. Rohmer says: “[…] this camera will quickly be known – again — as a game-changer for just about everybody from wedding videographers, sports videographers, event videographers…”. It’s the DSLR to shot any setting, as unpredictable these settings may be. He sums up his findings:

The Canon 7D Mark II is a powerful photography and cinematography tool that professionals can utilize to capture incredible imagery with speed and accuracy. With it’s APS-C, 20.2 megapixel sensor and dual Digic 6 image processors there’s little this camera can’t do.

The video-review gives a good insight to what the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II means for professional photographers, especcially for those who are into sport, wildlife, and generally fast action photography. And as I said many times before: the EOS 7D Mark II is a game changer, in any sense. What Canon makes are not fancy gadgets but well-made, professional tools for those who care to have a thought-out camera for their job. And in case the 7D Mark II is too much for you, have a look at the not-less-impressing EOS 70D, Canon’s well-made allround DSLR (with a much more affordable price point). The 7D Mark II is Canon’s new APS-C flagship but the EOS 70D is no slough though, coming with many advanced features.

The EOS 7D Mark II’s AF-system is the best you can get on an APS-C camera, add 10fps, an amazing high ISO performance, and all the other professional features. Read more about the EOS 7D Mark II’s excellent weather sealing, the highly advanced AF, and the industry leading high ISO performance (have a look here too). All our coverage on the EOS 7D Mark II can be seen here.

    Game changer….???
    Again :-)

    OMG

This expression, game changer, has obviously been through so much inflation, today its real meaning must be “interesting”.

Obviously, Canon can better motivate some reviewers than their own product development engineers.

I hate this kind of hype, marketing BS without any substance.

This is “road to hell”. This is, how companies and reviewers loose credibility.

How much has the 7D-II really changed the game, changed the industry, the market, our photographing habits???
    Nothing!

Why don’t write, it is an excellent camera. If you are for Canon, and don’t need full-frame, the 7DII is the best choice. But game changer….

Canon’s game changer was the 300D, the first 5D and the C100-300-500.
Today’s game changers come from other companies.

THe 5D Mk II was a game changer with it’s full frame video.

Wondering what game the 7D Mk II is changing?

    • Wade Marks

Wow..tough crowd here. Obviously the term “game changer” is subjective. Some would argue the last game changer in photography was the digital image sensor. So we can play that game all day long.

What is obvious is that the 7d ii is quite an astonishing camera. Most of the critics have never even held one, much less used it over time to gain an informed opinion. Whereas the ones who are praising the camera have actually used it, are working professionals, and have some knowledge of the industry.

If you do get to use a 7dii, it will amaze you with its AF, especially if you haven’t used a camera like the 1DX.

  • Not for me

    Game changer in 2010. LOL

    • Eno

      Totally agree!

    • Keith Reeder

Nobody cares about your opinion though – you clearly don’t have a clue about WHY the 7D Mk II is such a significant camera.

So go back to your snapshots of cats for your Facebook page, and leave discussing Big Boy cameras to the big boys…

  • Pancanikonpus

Canon is gg very very soon!

  • waiting…

New Eos M WILL chance the game.

The best way to liven up a Canon rumor site is to post satirical reviews such as this. Thank you Frank Rohmer for making my day.

    • Keith Reeder

“Satirical” clearly doesn’t mean what you think it means…
