DPReview Will Not Disappear Any Time Soon (albeit it will become an archive)

DPReview

So, some news about legendary photographic authority DPReview, which has become a victim of Amazon’s greed and dumbness.

A few weeks ago, news broke that DPReview will shut down and some of the staff migrate to PetaPixel. But now there is some hope to preserve the camera and lens tests, the comparison tool and some other stuff. That is: DPReview will become an archive and stay online for the foreseeable future. For how long no one knows. But they will even post some new content while they work to become an archive. Scott Everett, DPReview’s General Manager, wrote:

Dear readers,

We’ve received a lot of questions about what’s next for the site. We hear your concerns about losing the content that has been carefully curated over the years, and want to assure you that the content will remain available as an archive.

We’ve also heard that you need more time to access the site, so we’re going to keep publishing some more stories while we work on archiving.

At least that.

After 25 Years DPReview Shuts Down For Good

Well, if this didn’t come as a surprise. DPReview says goodbye after 25 years of activity.

However, some of the staff already announced they will go on with what I thought has always been DPReview’s main competitor, PetaPixel. Guess we will never get to know the real reasons of DPReview going out of business. It’s a pity for sure.

Here is a statement by two of their most famous reviewers, Chris and Jordan. Both already announced they will work for PetaPixel in the future.
