DxOmarked: Canon G1 X

The people at DxOMark has tested the Canon G1 X (click here).

The camera gets an overall score of 60. As usual we anticipate the final verdict:

  • You have a reflex-quality sensor in camera of the same volume as a G11.
  • You can use this camera even under relatively difficult conditions.
  • If you’re an amateur photographer, this camera can satisfy pretty much all of your needs (especially if you want to take great family photos, for example). If you’re a professional photographer, this can be a good backup camera.

MIRRORLESS look

The new, increasing interest on the mirrorless shows a market tendency. The most successful proposals are: Olympus with PEN E-PL2 and PEN E-PL1, Panasonic with LUMIX GF2, Sony NEX-5. They have gained a a very interesting percentage of sales.
And in the other hand, Canon and Fuji just yesterday on Reuters have expressed a great attention to the mirrorless segment. Surely they can not leave eating slices of market so lucrative. But this would be a step toward a very high competition.
Fuji would become world No. 3 in cameras, surpassing Samsung and Nikon; Canon would keep ahead; Sony is an increasingly strong competitor and Panasonic too.
When in 2012 all will be present with their new proposals, the market could have new sales rankings and a new winners list.
I am curious about it!
