2 years ago |A great cam, but the price difference of $500 or Euro between D800 and 5DMK III is difficult to communicate to potential customers.

2 years ago |Looks like Sony a99 has chance to beat the big boy. The price is high, lack of in body IS sucks, frame rate sucks ( i got used to Sony’s numbers), not very innovative either.

2 years ago |Overall nothing revolutionary, I think. I didn’t look in the details but a quick glance at the spec sheet says that Nikon has an upper hand this time. But the final image and video quality can always change the game.
I however find the following omissions a bit shocking.
No HDMI out-it should have been a must for pros.
No 60p.
No aperture control in video.

2 years ago |100 gr heavier than the 5D mk2, in exchange of features that I don’t need for the most part. I wish a light FF camera for travelling and reportage, not a heavier one !! They got it the other way around. Only the number of pixels is right. They won’t clog my computer.

I want a small FF for travel and ready for my MF lenses or I will replace my 5D with another brand

2 years ago |Canon’s arrogance fully revealed in the 5D3–a warmed over 5D2.
The real question is, will Canon come out with a new high mpx FF camera in 2013 to compete against Nikon and Sony (Sony apparently has an over 36mpx organic sensor offering coming next year).
At first I thought Canpn would…but now, I do not think so. This is all Canon’s going to offer for 4 more years….

2 years ago |Sorry to say that I’m disappointed with 5DIII.
I was always hoping that Canon would do a major overhaul of the 5DII that I’ve been using for 3 years since I’ve been using it less and less. 5DIII turns out to be a very conservative update … yes, the AF system is upgraded … and to an extent that I would almost applaud … “almost” in the sense that we’re still stuck with the horrifyingly slow movie AF … if Pannny/Oly, Sony and Nikon can do it, I really can’t see why Canon cannot (probably “would not” for some unknown reason).
The 22MP makes perfect sense to me, particularly in the light of a possible 1-stop high ISO noise advantage over D800. But why not take away the stupid AA filter just like Leica, Nikon and Fuji did?
And since 5DIII is supposed to be video-oriented (given that the sensor’s vertical resolution is now a multiple of 1920), why hold back raw output from HDMI?
As it stands, I’m reserving my funds to upgrade my D700 instead.
