Another mention of the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens [CW2]
From time to time the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens gets a mention somewhere. The first time this lens was rumored goes back to 2012. The latest bits suggest “that Canon is actively working on an EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens” and “that two or three prototypes exist, but no final design has been decided on“, and finally to “not expect this lens from Canon for 18-24 months at the earliest“.
The EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS is said to feature BR optics. The rumor also suggests that the major reason Canon did not yet announce this lens is due to the fact that the lens would become too big with IS. The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II was released instead.
