Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS Announcement On 11/2/2023?

It seems Canon is set to announce a new inexpensive telephoto lens, the Canon RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS.

This is going to be a non-L lens, i.e. a consumer lens. Despite that, it is rumored that the lens will come with white painting, usually reserved for Canon’s top tier telephoto lenses. And there is more: the lens is rumored to feature DO elements (diffractive optics). Given that we are talking about a non-L lens, that seems to be a bit of a stretch. Pricing of the RF 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS is rumored to be above $2000, although not by much.

There have been a few patent applications that might refer to this lens.
