Canon Selects Animal Shelter Advocate and Photographer Guinnevere Shuster for the Final Chapter of the Rebel with a Cause Campaign

Shuster Gave Shelter Dog Her Best Day, Documented on the Canon EOS Rebel T6i DSLR Camera

MELVILLE, N.Y., November 17, 2016 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has been showcasing modern day rebels through the Rebel With A Cause campaign in honor of the 25th anniversary of the first EOS Rebel SLR camera. To celebrate the culmination of the project, Canon hosted a contest to find a real life rebel and is excited to announce that animal shelter advocate and photographer Guinnevere Shuster was selected as an individual that showcases that there truly is a “rebel in all of us.” To build awareness of the overcrowding within shelters and the 3,000 animals euthanized each year*, Guinnevere captured a “dog’s best day” with shelter dog, Willa. The full #WillasBestDay film, shot entirely on Canon EOS Rebel T6i DSLR cameras, can be seen here: http://Canon.us/6whg with a call to action for families to adopt.

“Four years ago, I started photographing shelter dogs. With millions of animals still in shelters looking for their forever home, I wanted to try and make a difference and do my part to change people’s opinions of animal shelters and their residents,” said Shuster. “It’s been amazing working with Canon to change the portrayal of shelter animals by showcasing how to use photography to capture dogs in their natural state, having fun, rather than the stereotypical pictures that show shelter animals behind ‘bars.’”

Canon press release:

United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 8 November, 2016 – Leaders from across Europe’s publishing industries have been challenged to “reinvent” the book at Canon’s Future Book Forum last week (2-4 November). The annual event held in Munich, gave publishers and printers a rare opportunity to discuss the future of the publishing industry together.

Over 250 publishers, production companies and print houses took part in interactive workshops and roundtables over the two days to help realise the challenge and develop a new format built from an original manuscript of 50 letters to the world’s CEOs, provided by international business management publisher, Thinkers50. The new format, entitled ‘Letters to the Future’ will be developed from the two-day event by Canon and moderator, Peter Fisk, and launched at the Thinkers50 European Business Forum in Odense, Denmark in May.

Watch a Canon Elan 7S SLR getting cut in half with a 60,000 psi waterjet

canon

Videos showing tech gear getting destroyed are all the rage these days, and are everywhere on the web. It’s not the kind of entertainment I prefer, though.

As much as I do not like to see a Canon camera getting destroyed, the video below by Waterjet Channel is never the less impressing. A 60,000 psi waterjet cutter cuts a Canon Elan 7S SLR in two parts, including the lens. Guess the Canon haters will enjoy it more than others :-)
