How to make stereoscopic images with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV’s Dual Pixel RAW

A user of DPReview’s forum discovered that you can produce stereoscopic images with Dual Pixel RAW files of the new Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

I don’t think this was planned by Canon when they implemented Dual Pixel RAW. On the other hand, it’s a pretty good example of the potential of this technology. I am sure we will see more new applications of Dual Pixel RAW. As soon as the EOS 5D Mark IV starts to be widely used, such discoveries will pop up.

Infinity² is a movie of stargazers shot at ISO 400,000 with the Canon ME20F-SH

Infinity² is a short movie by Uncage the Soul Productions. And it was shot with Canon’s low light champion, the Canon ME20F-SH camera and a Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens.

Something internal and personal draws us out to the night sky. Under a blanket of stars and the Milky Way arcing over head, we ask the simple question “What do you feel?”

This short film follows 20 high schoolers far from the city lights to an Astronomy Camp; then joins the Oregon Star Party where 600 astronomers camp out with telescopes of all sizes during the Perseids Meteor Shower. Timelapse has been the only way to showcase the night sky in video; but with the new low-light technology of the Canon MH20f-SH, we film in the quiet moments that have been impossible to capture until now.
