Foremost, a warning: do not tear down your 5D Mark III if you do not have the necessary technical skills (and be sure that you will need them to do it). The hack discussed in this post voids warranty and may severely damage your camera. That said, read on.
The issue that EOS 5D Mark III bodies seem to have with light leaking from the top LCD-panel is getting in a new round. Ron Risman at cameratown did some extensive testing to trace down the problem and provides test shots to illustrate the issue. The bad news: the light leak on the 5D Mark III goes beyond the LCD panel (says Risman):
This is an issue that is heavily discusses in forums and on the web. People are reporting that their 5D Mark III’s are leaking light through the LCD panel on the top of the camera body. The leak seems to affect metering. There is a way to test if your body has the problem: put the cap on the body and cover the viewfinder, then put the cam in “P” mode at ISO 800 and turn on the LCD backlight. If the leak is present, the shutter speed will change after having turned on the backlight. Unfortunately there is more. The same issue seems to show up if a flashlight is firing on top of the LCD panel. And finally: there is also some people reporting that direct sunlight or strong light coming from top to down is also affecting the metering. I have two videos explaining the issue.

Apple just released Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 (click here to download). Support for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III RAW files has been added for Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11.

This issue relates to customers who are using the Digital Photo Professional (DPP ver.3.11.10) RAW image processing software with the Canon EOS 5D Mark III digital camera.
We have identified an issue that prevents users of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III from processing their RAW format images when using Digital Photo Professional Version 3.11.10, the RAW image development software that is bundled with the EOS 5D Mark III.
Answer :
We will shortly release an update for the Digital Photo Professional Version 3.11.10 for users to download which will address this issue. The update will be released on the website in mid-April.
