It was $399 before. Not even worth that.

  • Hmmm

With so many good NEX, Fuji X and M43 cameras on the market, this useless EOS-M was really all you could make, Canon? Not surprised its price is dropping so fast. Only complete fools would buy one instead of the far superior competition. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the price drop to $300 next month.

“Image quality” is worth quite a bit. For JPEG shooters, Sony color is all over the place — everywhere except “correct.” Fuji with its heavy blue cast, Olympus with its heavy magenta cast, and Panasonic “colors from a different planet” don’t float my boat at all. EOS-M with excellent image quality and “Canon color” is worth plenty to JPEG shooters.

  • Another Thought

Granted, the AF leaves a lot to be desired. Shame on Canon; they should know that in today’s market you need a quick responsive AF to effectively compete.

That being said, the image quality is quite good, and at this price it’s a very good deal. It’s a better deal than the Nikon Coolpix A, that’s for sure…and IMHO it’s a better deal than the Sony RX100…it’s also a better than a Nex 3 or 5 series.

Here’s what one person wrote on dpreview:
I just picked one up a few days ago and love the camera. The image quality with the 22mm is fantastic.

    The little 22mm lens is actually sharper than my 35L shot at F/2 on a 5D3. Can’t wait for additional primes like a 12mm F/2 and/or a 30mm F/1.4.

So this camera may have its flaws, but its not garbage either.

I agree. IQ is really very good. If it wasn’t for the sluggish AF this cam would have been a winner. However, I am using the EOS M since 6 months (mainly for travel) and if you learn to use it, you can live with the AF. Everything else works fine.

I need one of these like a fish needs a bicycle.
