Next Canon EOS 7D Mark II Specification List

EOS 7D Mark II

DigitalRev published an article where they compare the Nikon D7100 to the upcoming Canon EOS 7D Mark II, the successor of the highly popular Canon EOS 7D (price & specs). While discussing the features and more of both DSLRs, they also posted a list of supposed specs of the EOS 7D Mark II taken “from various sources in the know, (a.k.a. employees working in Japan who can’t keep their mouths shut)“. The specs are a bit different from the specs we published some days ago. Here they are:

  • 24.1 megapixel APS-C sensor
  • New 61 point AutoFocus system
  • Larger 3.2” screen with 100% coverage
  • Dual DIGIC V processors
  • 10 fps continuous shooting
  • Dual Memory Card slots
  • ISO and build quality close to the 5D Mark III
  • GPS and Wi-Fi built in
  • Around US$2,200

Still sounds plausible, maybe even more than the previously reported specs.

Canon EOS 7D price check: Amazon USA, B&H Photo, Digitalrev, eBay, Adorama, Canon USA, or rent it here.

This is the Camera Canon needs. Although, it better have a new sensor. Nikon has been smoking Canon with their sensors for some time. With dual digiv V processors, they ought to be able to shoot 1080p video at 60fps too.

    • jansk

well nobody can tell a difference from the praised sony/nikon APS-C sensors to the shunned canon APS-C sensors on A3+ prints. NOBODY!!

even pixelspepper will have a hard time telling one from the other.
only way to see a difference is if you push shadows in RAW converters like crazy.

  • John

After releasing DIGIC6, why would the use DIGIC5 in a camera that is not even announced?

  • Will

Why not have digic 6 processors? I would think that the 7d2 would get digic 6 now that its been released.

  • Infocus

    Very interesting, although…
Why is it that Canikon judges that from a certain level of camera bodies a tiltable screen is not done?!
Such a screen adds a lot to the usability of the camera and manufacturers must be able to make such screens strong nowadays you would think. Or is it perhaps that a tiltable screen isn’t taken serious by us, the users. It’s that screen that keeps me looking at Sony all the time although Canon has top lenses and Nikin top bodies like D7100.

  • peevee

Specs sound better. Except dual DIGIC V, not DIGIC VI?
    But the price is ridiculous.

  • One More Thought

If the rumored price is true, then it will be a real stretch to ask the market for this price for a crop sensor camera.

The sensor had better be breakthrough in terms of performance. In this market, there will be FF alternatives at a lower price. There will also be the Nikon D7100 which on paper at least will seem close enough to many but for $1000 less; almost half price.

But of course this is all rumor and speculation at this point…

  • CK

If the spec is correct (including the price), it is almost a mix of Canon 5DIII + 6D.

If dual digic 6, that would even more powerful than iDX.

Either spec will hurt 5DIII/6D/1DX, I wondered how true it is.

  • Eric

This time it is more like a high-end camera we are expecting.

  • Nikon Better come with a d400 to compete with this one…
Sounds like this is going to be the d7100 killer…

  • I can’t wait for this model. I don’t understand why it doesn’t have DIGIC VI ?? I opted for the very affordable EOD 7D at which was perfect for my conditions although the low megapixel count compared to the Mark II almost tempted me to wait.

  • bear man

I think this is all a bunch of bs there is no such camera. If there was it would be about 4200.00 and not anything less. Look how expensive everthing thing else is .canon and nikon prices are just to rip off the consumer. Example a 500 mm for over 10000.00 dollars they are nothing but thiefes.

  • susan

wonder if the efs lens will work with this camera
