[via CanonUSA]The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM (16-28.8mm equivalent) is one of those lenses where Canon shows what they can do (when they want) and how much engineering skills they have when it comes to lenses. DigitalRev’s Kai reviews the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM in a hands-on video review.
The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM was announced a few weeks ago, and is a high performing ultra-wide angle lens for APS-C DSLRs at a bargain price. The EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM sells for $299/€280 and is in stock almost everywhere (check links below). Kudos to Canon for making such a good lens and for selling it at an affordable price.
Photozone‘s verdict on the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM:
[…] Canon showed once more that the quality crown still belongs to DSLR systems – even and especially regarding low cost lenses. The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM may be very slow but it is darn sharp in the relevant aperture range. In fact it is every bit as good as the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM here … at half the price! The amount of lateral CAs is well controlled. In critical scenes (e.g. architecture) you will be able to spot some barrel distortions at 10mm but we’ve seen a lot worse here. The only significant weakness is vignetting especially at 10mm.
At a price of $299 the EF-S 10-18mm delivers a lot of band for the bucks!

Canon U.S.A. Introduces Canon Print Service, Mobile Print Solution for Android Version 4.4 (KitKat) and HP Slate Devices
Delivers Easy-to-Use Solution for Current and Future Customers to a Variety of imageCLASS, PIXMA, imageRUNNER, and imageRUNNER ADVANCE Systems
MELVILLE, N.Y., July 7, 2014 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced Canon Print Service, a mobile print offering that enables users to print from any Android version 4.4 (KitKat) enabled devices as well as select HP Slate devices to select Canon models. Canon Print Service works on top of Android’s recently announced printing framework and enables users to print their business documents, personal documents and photographs to Canon printing systems over a wireless network. The addition of Canon Print Service to Canon’s mobile solutions portfolio expands easy Android device printing support.
Canon Print Service is an ideal solution for existing and new Canon customers, as users who already own compatible Canon systems don’t need to upgrade their printers, nor download new driver software. Users will enjoy printing with options, including paper size, number of copies and orientation, to name a few.
“As the growth in mobility among individuals and businesses around the world expands exponentially, Canon U.S.A. continues to deliver to our customers the technology they need to remain productive and successful,” said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “With the release of Canon Print Service, we are demonstrating our commitment to existing Canon customers especially by offering them a valuable solution they didn’t have when they originally bought their product.”
