This could be the patent for the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II lens. Egami (translated) spotted a patent filed by Canon that’s related to a 35mm f/1.4 lens that appears to refer to the successor of the Canon EF 35mm f 1.4L USM [shoplink 184](price & specs)[/shoplink] lens (released in 1998). Not the first patent for a 35mm lens, and there was a rumor that Canon was field-testing a EF 35mm f/1.4L II lens. More after the break.

It’s weird that the Canon EOS 7D doesn’t see more deals now that the EOS 70D has hit shelves. Canon EOS 70D Dual Pixel AF Outperforms Conventional AF (dpreview)

dpreview added the AF test page to their work-in-progress review of the [shoplink 14246]Canon EOS 70D[/shoplink]. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF is up to expectation, it works so good that “the Dual Pixel AF system outperforms the conventional autofocus system – it’s more consistent, shot-to-shot and it’s more accurate, in terms of where it focuses“, according to dpreview.
