Yet another Canon patent for the EOS M system, it’s an EF-M 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

EF-M 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

It appears Canon is filing one patent for EF-M lenses after the other. Here is another one for an EF-M 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens.

I can’t say if this optical formula has something to do with the already available EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens. Maybe it was a patent obn the road to the 15-45mm. However, Canon appears to be definitely commited to the EOS M system.

Canon Asia’s Snapshot site posted a helpful tutorial about how to best capture natural looking landscapes with the Canon EOS 80D.

The article discusses three techniques for capturing landscapes:

  1. Manually tweak the colour temperature to enhance the hue of the setting sun
  2. Carry out Live View shooting and use Magnification MF for a more accurate focus on flowers
  3. Use the Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) function when shooting scenes where it is difficult to determine the exposure

It won’t take much of your time and may give you some hints you didn’t know so far. The tips apply to other Canon DSLRs and cameras too.

According to DxOMark, the Canon EOS 80D features Canon’s best performing APS-C sensor.
