The folks at LensRentals posted a brief review of the Canon [shoplink 34159]EF 35mm f/1.4 II[/shoplink], a new Canon prime featuring Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics. They write:

The greatest (and only) shortfall I found with the new Canon 35mm f/1.4L II came in the price of the lens. At $1,799 new, the Canon 35mm f/1.4 II is a staggering $300 more than its now [shoplink 184]dated predecessor[/shoplink], and double the price of the Sigma Art series lens – a strong competitor to the Canon 35L II. So is it worth the massive price difference?  If you’re a loyalist to Canon, then yes – the Mark II version is a considerable upgrade to the original, and well worth the price difference between the two. However, if you’re willing to venture over to Sigma, the [shoplink 8892]Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art[/shoplink] series lens is still the best buy for the money. At $799 [editors note: it’s actually $899] retail price, the Sigma 35mm Art series will put you right in between the two Canon lenses, and at a considerably lower price than both of them. Meet the Miggo Splat, a small, lightweight and flexible tiny tripod (and it’s just $25)

You all know Joby Gorillapods, the clever and flexible mini tripods that can be attached or mounted on all sort of stuff. The Miggo Splat puts the idea a step further. After playing with the Splat for a few weeks we can say that its a really cool little accessory that we think any photographer will appreciate. Its flexible, easy to use, very versatile and extremely portable. No less important – its really inexpensive, making it a really cool impulse buy or gift.

Is the Splat a complete replacement for something like the heavy duty GorillaPod (like the GorillaPod Focus), probably not – the legs are simply not long enough and the camera can’t be positioned high enough – however if you just need to place a pretty heavy camera on a stable mini tripod and quickly change angles, the Splat is an awesome solution for 1/4 of the price. Read the review…

Canon commemorates production of 80 millionth EOS-series interchangeable-lens camera

TOKYO, November 18, 2015—Canon Inc. announced today the achievement of a new camera-manufacturing milestone as combined production of the Company’s film and digital EOS-series interchangeable-lens cameras surpassed the 80-million mark on November 10, 2015. The 80-millionth EOS camera produced was an EOS 5DS R, which boasts the world’s highest pixel count in its class.1

Production of Canon EOS SLR cameras began in 1987 at Canon Inc.’s Fukushima Plant (now Fukushima Canon Inc.), later moving to such production bases as Oita Canon Inc. and Canon Inc., Taiwan. Production rapidly increased following the spread of digital SLR cameras in the early 2000s and the Company is now commemorating a new milestone: the production of its 80-millionth EOS camera.

Adobe released Lightroom 6.3/Lightroom CC 2015.3. Support for the latest Canon cameras has been added, as well as for a big set of Canon pro lenses and third party lenses for Canon mount (list after the break). You can download the update though the built-in function, or make a direct download:  Windows | Mac.

Lightroom CC 2015.3 and Lightroom 6.3 are now available on Adobe.com.  The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom.  This release also restores the Import experience available prior to Lightroom 6.2.
