(CMJ) has recently released 12 new free filters and editing functions that include copying and resizing text for the PERSTEXT iOS app that inserts dynamic text into photos so you can enjoy new types of expression.

CMJ is offering PERSTEXT as a free photo editing app for iPhone/iPad on the App Store. With PERSTEXT you can insert dynamic text into photos to convey a message and a greater design sense, and enjoy a new form of expression and communication.

This time, with 12 free filters that make it possible to express changes in color tone, and special effects, as well as the addition of copying and resizing text editing functions, you can enjoy expressing images that suit you with even greater freedom. The new version is available for download at canon.jp/perstext.

In addition to filters that adjust the color tone, a total of 12 filters to express special effects such as diorama, vignette, and zoom have been added. By changing the filter, it is possible to enjoy a variety of different impressions even with the same image. And, by using the text copy function, the photographer can insert their signature into images brimming with originality when uploading to SNS.

Photography Blog posted their review of the new Canon PowerShot G9 X, Canon’s latest super compact camera with an 1 inch sensor. The cute little PowerShot G9 X has the same well regarded 1 inch sensor as the [shoplink 22665]Powershot G7 X[/shoplink]. In the conclusion Photography Blog writes:

Once again Canon has produced a very appealing compact camera for those looking for something which is pocket friendly but retains many of the high quality features which something bigger and more advanced has.

The fact that the Canon PowerShot G9 X uses the same sensor as the highly praised G7 X is good news. A one-inch sensor in something so small and neat is not easily achieved however, and as such there is a compromise in the focal length of the lens. However, the 3x optical zoom gives you a little bit of flexibility, and is enough for landscapes, portraits and macro subjects. Read the review.

Ken Rockwell posted his thoughts and impression about the Canon EOS M3. You may agree or nor agree with Rockwell’s reviewing and writing style, but sentences like the one that follows have my full agreement:

The EOS M3 has the world’s best mirrorless picture quality because Canon has better color rendition than any other mirrorless brand. Canon’s real-world color rendition is far better to the critical artist than Fuji, Sony, or LEICA. Read the review.

There is nothing to say here: Canon is still the undisputed leader when it comes to color rendition. The [shoplink 29518]EOS M3[/shoplink] is a terrific mirrorless camera. I love mine and it is always in my bag now. It’s also my new travel kit with the [shoplink 14076]EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM[/shoplink], [shoplink 6095]EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM[/shoplink] and [shoplink 6093]EF-M 22mm f/2 STM[/shoplink] lenses. If there is one point in Rockwell’s review I agree totally, it’s the advantage to travel with such a lightweight kit while still getting stellar image quality. Rockwell also posted a review about the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens.

Canon announce new professional camcorders. The XA35 and XA30 will be available from December 2015 at $2,999 and $2,499, respectively. Pre-orders can be placed at B&H Photo. They also have an introductory Explora article.

Sydney, Australia, 11 November 2015 – Canon Australia today announces the addition of two handheld video cameras to its X-series, the XA35 and XA30. Designed for professionals and enthusiasts alike, the highly compact and lightweight models feature a newly developed HD CMOS Pro sensor which provides higher sensitivity and improved low-light performance. Both cameras also include new Wide Dynamic Range (DR) and Highlight Priority settings, making them suitable for shooting everything from news and documentaries, to weddings and corporate films.

First-class image quality and video processing performance

Utilising Canon’s heritage in optical expertise and advanced technologies, the newly designed 1/2.84-type 2.91 megapixel HD CMOS Pro sensor has enhanced sensitivity with improved signal-to-noise ratio. As a result, images are crisp and clear, even in low-light environments. Low-light shooting opportunities are further boosted by improved infrared performance, ideal for users capturing nocturnal wildlife or night-time documentaries.

The 20x zoom wide-angle lens offers a 26.8-576mm (35mm equivalent) focal range and employs Canon’s intelligent 5-axis Optical Image Stabilization System with Dynamic IS. The lens also features an 8 blade circular aperture to give enhanced ‘bokeh’.

The XA35 and XA30 features two new settings – Wide DR and Highlight Priority. In Wide DR mode, the cameras are able to achieve 600% dynamic range, resulting in bright images with high contrast that retain detail in both highlight and shadow areas, without the need for post-production. When using the High Priority settings, users are able to produce footage with more natural tones and richer colours, particularly in areas of high brightness1, perfect for scenes with bright skies and reflective surfaces.

Both models also feature slow and fast recording modes, supporting a range of shooting scenarios with interval recording options up to a maximum of 1200x normal speed.
