Well, this is a weird lens, but I am pretty sure it’s a cool lens too. Venus Optics unveiled the LAOWA 25mm F2.8 2.5-5X ULTRA MACRO lens. The LAOWA 25mm will be available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sony FE mounts. Price is $399, and pre-orders are possible on Venus Optics’ site, shipping will start late March.

Hong Kong based manufacturer Meike is set to announce very soon three new lenses for mirrorless camera systems (Sony FE, Canon EF-M, Nikon 1, Fujifilm X and Micro Four Thirds cameras)

Meike will announce a 50mm f/1.7 lens, a 25mm f/2, and a 25mm T2.2. Cine lens.

According to ePhotozine, the Meike 50mm f/1.7 is “comprised of 12 diaphragm blades and has a 0.11x magnification ratio“.

All new Meike lenses are manual focus, and will be available for pre-order on Amazon soon.

Zeiss announce Milvus 1.4/25 lens (25mm f/1.4 for full frame)

The ZEISS Milvus 1.4/25 is the latest focal length to be added to ZEISS’s range of lenses for full-frame DSLR cameras.

ZEISS Unveils High-Speed DSLR Lens: ZEISS Milvus 1.4/25

With its new wide-angle focal length, the ZEISS Milvus family now boasts eleven lenses for single-lens reflex cameras, including four focal lengths with a maximum aperture of 1.4, which are perfect for videographers too.

The ZEISS Milvus 1.4/25 is the latest focal length to be added to ZEISS’s largest range of lenses for full-frame single-lens reflex cameras. The lens, which was developed for the DSLR systems from Canon1 is a trademark or registered trademark of Canon Inc. and/or other members of the Canon Group. and Nikon2 is a registered trademark of Nikon Corporation., is suitable primarily for landscape and architecture photography, and for journalistic shots and videos. “The completely new optical design ensures superior performance across the entire image field,” says Christophe Casenave, Product Manager at ZEISS. “This results in high-contrast photos and a harmonious bokeh.”

High-speed wide-angle lens

Thanks to a maximum aperture of 1.4, this lens can even capture exceptional images in poor light. “Even at full aperture, there are hardly any color fringes,” says Casenave. “The finest details can be reproduced in high definition and contrast all the way into the corners.” The metal housing is what makes the lens robust, and its dirt and dust protection even makes the ZEISS Milvus 1.4/25 ready for action in adverse weather. The large 172-degree focus rotation angle enables precise manual focusing for adding creative touches to photos and videos.

The largest ZEISS lens family yet

Featuring eleven focal lengths ranging from 15 to 135 millimeters, including two macros, the ZEISS Milvus family covers a host of applications, such as portrait, landscape, architecture and street photography. “We can offer every photographer just the right lens,” says Casenave.

Perfect for videographers too

The four ZEISS Milvus focal lengths 25, 35, 50 and 85 millimeters with an aperture of 1.4 are just perfect for filming. Thanks to their high speed, they are suitable primarily for interviews and documentaries where the videographer can utilize natural light. Thanks to the de-click function in the version for the Nikon-Mount the aperture can be adjusted continuously. ZEISS Lens Gears in a range of sizes permit the use of follow-focus systems.

Carl Zeiss Announces Two New Cinema Lenses (CZ.2 28-80/T2.9 and CP.2 25/T2.1) For Full Frame Cameras

Carl Zeiss will display the new cine zoom lens Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80/T2.9 at the IBC in Amsterdam, the leading international trade show for film, radio and television, from September 7 to 11, 2012 in hall 11 booth G64. The new Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80/T2.9 by Carl Zeiss is a cine zoom lens ideally suited to a wide variety of shooting situations. It is easy to handle, compact and versatile. It takes pictures in 4K resolution — in full format. This is the second Compact Zoom CZ.2 lens from Carl Zeiss, complementing the Compact Zoom CZ.2 70-200/T2.9 presented in April at the NAB Show 2012 in Las Vegas for the longer focal length range. For color rendition, contrast and other parameters such as great flare suppression, calibrated focus scales, consistent aperture over the zoom range, round iris the new CZ.2 family is closely aligned to one another, making these lenses ideal for attaining a con- sistent optical performance when changing lenses.

With a length of 196 millimeters and weighing in at 2.5 kg (5.5lbs), the Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80/T2.9 is sleek and lean. With its slim build, the Compact Zoom family follows the current market trend towards smaller and lighter lenses that are perfect for handheld cameras, Steadicam systems, or for shooting in tight spaces. The Compact Zoom CZ.2 is espe- cially comfortable to use thanks to its ergonomi- cally designed and partly rubber-coated surface, which allows both precise manual focusing as well as mechanical focusing via follow-focus systems. The Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating ensures maximum contrast and color rendition by minimizing stray light and ghosting within the lens.
