Eventually A Canon Announcement in November? (EOS M2 Rumor)

EOS M2 Rumor

Most recent rumours suggest that Canon won’t announce anything EOS-related during the last months of 2013, at least not for the DSLR line-up. However, something may be in preparation. The EOS M2 is rumoured as a candidate for an announcement.

CR reports that “a major retailer” is going to show off new gear, the presentation appears to be scheduled for the third week of November, and Canon seems to be involved. The suspect of the case is the successor of the Canon EOS M, for the time being usually named EOS M2.

An announcement of the EOS M2 so short before X-Mas appears not to be the best marketing strategy, unless Canon can ship from day one and starts a phenomenal marketing campaign to get ready for the X-Mas sales.

Are These Canon Lens Patents For The EOS M System?

Egami (translated) spotted Canon patents for three lenses that could been thought for the EOS M mirrorless system, a 5omm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4. Egami’s analysis of the patents suggests this interpretation, i.e. that these lenses are made for an APS-C mirrorless system. Sound exciting, having such primes for the EOS M would at least allow us to think that Canon is committed to their mirrorless system. More details and specs after the break.

Canon EOS M Kit Fire Sales Still Going On

EOS M Kit Fire Sales

Still on a fence for the Canon EOS M? This is another good deal for those who are. B&H sells the EOS M (white) kit with the EF-M 18-55mm IS STM lens and the SpeedLite 90EX flash for $359 (click here). This is the best of the other B&H’s EOS M kits, while Amazon has the EOS M with the EF-M 18-55mm IS STM for $319 (click here).

The EOS M still is, despite plenty of not always right critics for the AF (at least since the firmware update), a high performing mirrorless camera with an image quality that’s hard to beat for the competition. Period. :-)
