Wildlife Gets A New Home: Canon U.S.A. Supports The Wildlife Conservation Society On The Renovation Of The Children’s Zoo At The Bronx Zoo

MELVILLE, N.Y., JUNE 4, 2015 – Through its 2015 sponsorship of WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), a science-based conservation organization that helps save wildlife and wild places worldwide, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to announce its support for the renovation of the Children’s Zoo, a three-acre exhibit for children and families located in the Bronx Zoo in New York. Canon joined the Children’s Zoo official reopening event on May 30 with local community members to help celebrate the completed renovation.

“WCS is grateful to Canon U.S.A. for sharing our vision of a world where wildlife thrives in healthy lands and seas,” said Dr. Cristián Samper, president and CEO, WCS. “A visit to the Bronx Zoo’s Children’s Zoo is a cherished memory for millions. Nearly 75 years after its historic opening, WCS has renovated and enhanced the exhibit with generous support from Canon. The Bronx Zoo has introduced exciting new species, colorful updated graphics, and innovative play experiences – while maintaining the iconic experiences and nostalgia that people recall from childhood.”

Canon helped support WCS’s renovation of its iconic Children’s Zoo, which now includes species native to Central and South America, such as a two-toed sloth, South American squirrel monkeys and the world’s smallest deer: the pudu. Additionally, as the exclusive sponsor of some of the new innovative play experiences for children and families at the exhibit, Canon is supporting the “Children’s Zoo Quests” through the Adventure Club program, an interactive activity with educational challenges and games about wildlife and animal behaviors.

“Canon is proud to collaborate with the WCS and support the new Children’s Zoo and its initiatives,” said Joe Adachi, chairman and CEO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The organization’s mission to conserve our wildlife aligns with the conservation efforts and educational initiatives that Canon is committed to supporting. We are excited to work with the WCS and participate in the educational activations for children and families to enjoy.”

The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, 5:30 p.m. weekends from April to October; 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. November to March. To plan your trip, visit bronxzoo.com or call 718-367-1010.
