Canon EOS 100D

DPreview added a sample pic gallery to their preview of Canon’s EOS 100D / Rebel SL1. They shot using the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM (price & specs) and EF 40mm f/2.8 STM (price & specs) pancake lenses, and cover different subjects and lighting conditions. Note that they used a pre-production model to shot. That’s to say that the image quality may be different for the production models, although it is unlikely to be so much different.

Canon Virginia Is First Manufacturer To Earn Responsible Recycling (R2) Certification

NAB 2013: Canon’s Chuck Westfall About Canon XA25 and XA20 Video Cameras

Canon’s Chuck Westfall interviewed about Canon’s new XA25 and XA20 professional HD video cameras (see press release here). Among the highlights of these video cameras is a 20x HD video lens, XLR inputs, dual-band WiFi (allows data transfer from the field), and the possibility to record full HD to one memory card while recording compressed footage on the second card.

Canon EOS 6D Firmware Update Released (version 1.1.3)

Announced some time ago, here is the firmware update (version 1.1.3) for the Canon EOS 6D (price & specs). The firmware update fixes a phenomenon in which the Date/Time/Zone settings screen appears on the LCD display, after the user has already configured these settings. The values for the Date/Time settings may reset if the backup functions which retain those values do not perform properly. The new firmware can be downloaded by clicking here.

Firmware Version 1.1.3 incorporates the following fix:

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the Date/Time/Zone settings screen appears on the LCD display, after the user has already configured these settings. The values for the Date/Time settings may reset if the backup functions which retain those values do not perform properly.

Even if the camera does not exhibit this phenomenon currently, it may in the future. Accordingly, we recommend that you update the Firmware in the camera to version 1.1.3 as soon as possible.

Firmware Version 1.1.3 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.1.2. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.1.3, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
Before downloading the firmware update for your camera, please review the instructions thoroughly.
