Meet the Miggo Splat, a small, lightweight and flexible tiny tripod (and it’s just $25)

You all know Joby Gorillapods, the clever and flexible mini tripods that can be attached or mounted on all sort of stuff. The Miggo Splat puts the idea a step further. The Miggo Splat is very small yet capable to get a 1.2kg DSLR mounted on. The really cool thing on this tiny tripod appear to be the legs, a concept that’s different from Gorillapods. Is the Splat a complete replacement for something like the heavy duty GorillaPod (like the GorillaPod Focus), probably not – the legs are simply not long enough and the camera can’t be positioned high enough – however if you just need to place a pretty heavy camera on a stable mini tripod and quickly change angles, the Splat is an awesome solution for 1/4 of the price. Read the review…

Canon commemorates production of 80 millionth EOS-series interchangeable-lens camera

TOKYO, November 18, 2015—Canon Inc. announced today the achievement of a new camera-manufacturing milestone as combined production of the Company’s film and digital EOS-series interchangeable-lens cameras surpassed the 80-million mark on November 10, 2015. The 80-millionth EOS camera produced was an EOS 5DS R, which boasts the world’s highest pixel count in its class.1

Production of Canon EOS SLR cameras began in 1987 at Canon Inc.’s Fukushima Plant (now Fukushima Canon Inc.), later moving to such production bases as Oita Canon Inc. and Canon Inc., Taiwan. Production rapidly increased following the spread of digital SLR cameras in the early 2000s and the Company is now commemorating a new milestone: the production of its 80-millionth EOS camera.

Adobe released Lightroom 6.3/Lightroom CC 2015.3. Support for the latest Canon cameras has been added, as well as for a big set of Canon pro lenses and third party lenses for Canon mount (list after the break). You can download the update though the built-in function, or make a direct download:  Windows | Mac.

Lightroom CC 2015.3 and Lightroom 6.3 are now available on Adobe.com.  The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom.  This release also restores the Import experience available prior to Lightroom 6.2.

Adorama and Canon Support Heart Gallery NYC “Through the Eyes of the Homeless” Project

Adorama and Canon provide cameras and photography training for homeless as part of awareness initiative; Photo gallery opens to the public on November 16, 2015

New York, NY – November 16, 2015 – Adorama, one of the world’s largest photography, video and audio, imaging and electronics retailers, is joining forces with camera manufacturer Canon to support the Heart Gallery NYC and the NYC Department of Homeless Services initiative “Through the Eyes of the Homeless” by providing 25 Canon PowerShot G7-X compact cameras and photography training to homeless. The Heart Gallery NYC initiative empowers homeless individuals while raising awareness around the lack of affordable housing in NYC through photography. Under the mentorship of professional Canon photographers, 14 currently or previously homeless individuals were asked to photograph the city, capturing their unique perspectives of New York City. The strongest photos were chosen for a gallery presentation that will be on exhibit to the public at the Prince George Ballroom, opening Monday November 16th, and subsequently featured in City Hall.
