(CW2) Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 IS STM Image Leaked?

An image of a possible Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS STM lens leaked on the web. Fake or real?

Hard to say so far. The lens in the image appears to have a good build quality, a large focusing ring, has IS and STM, looks authentic. It’s also questionable if this lens will replace the [shoplink 173]50mm f/1.8 II[/shoplink] (the Nifty-Fifty), or the [shoplink 175]EF 50mm f/1.4 USM[/shoplink].

If the image is real, then the lens appears to be placed higher in Canon’s line-up than the Nifty-Fifty. Btw, os there a reason to replace the Nifty-Fifty?
