Tamron SP 150-600mm Awarded As “Best Expert DSLR Lens” (TIPA)

Tamron SP 150-600mm

The Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens was awarded by TIPA as Best Expert DSLR Lens. TIPA’s motivation:

The Tamron 150-600 mm lens, for full-frame and APS-C DSLRS (with 1.5X magnification factor) incorporates VC (Vibration Compensation, Tamron’s image stabilization technology), a fast USD (ultrasonic silent drive), and eBAND (extended bandwidth and angular dependency) coating, for flare and ghosting reduction. The lens employs 20 elements in 13 groups, with the front group containing 3 ED glass elements. The circular, 9-bladed diaphragm provides exciting bokeh effects and maintains the circular shape even at 2 stops down from maximum aperture. The included SILKYPIX Developer Studio for Tamron uses optical data to correct any distortion, light falloff and chromatic aberrations.

The Tamron sells for $1069 (pre-order for now) and offers a lot of bang for the money. Good sharpness, a great telephoto range, and accurate and quick auto-focus are among the highlights of this lens.

Two Videos To Show What You Can Do With A Canon DSLR (EOS 6D and 5D Mark II)

Two videos for you to show what you can do with older gear (5D Mark II) and gear that’s said to be not very suited for video work (6D)

Who said that the Canon EOS 6D is not suited for video work? While it is true that Canon skimped on the Canon EOS 6D [shoplink 7139](price & specs)[/shoplink], their entry-level full-frame DSLR, and that Canon did not push video features in the EOS 6D, there is still people able to show where you can reach with an EOS 6D when it comes to video.

The video above is titled “Happy in La Spezia” (La Spezia is a city in northern Italy). The video was shot by filmmaker Damiano Martino using an Canon EOS 6D and the following lenses: [shoplink 184]EF 35 f/1.4L[/shoplink], [shoplink 230]EF 24-105mm f/4L IS[/shoplink], and [shoplink 120]EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro[/shoplink].

The video below was shot using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II [shoplink 254](price & specs)[/shoplink], the Canon DSLR that changed the game for videographers. The video, shot by filmmaker Xavier Zimbardo, shows a colourful view of the Holi festival in India (also known as Colours Festival). I feature the video not just because it is beautiful, but also because I’ll soon leave for a 3-months trip thru Asia, starting in India, and to show that you can shot amazing videos also when using older gear. The [shoplink 8658]EF 70-200mm f/2,8L IS[/shoplink] and [shoplink 230]EF 24-105mm f/4L IS[/shoplink] lenses were used.
