Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens Review (ephotozine)

EF-S 55-250mm

Canon EF-S 55-250mm 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II
B&H Photo, Adorama, Amazon USA, Amazon Canada, Canon Canada, Canon USA

ephotozine reviewed the Canon EF-S 55-250mm 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II, an inexpensive (it’s usually less than $300), lightweight and popular zoom lens with a 4 stop image stabiliser. In the conclusion they write:

For a budget lens, this optic performs pretty well, striking a good balance between build, image quality and price. The light weight of the lens makes this lens no hassle to keep stowed in a camera bag for when it’s needed and the four stop image stabiliser will help users to make the most of the telephoto reach on offer. Although this is a basic lens, it will still win over many fans due to its ability to deliver sharp images.

The review comes with test charts and sample pictures.

Not To Be Sold In The USA: Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens

 EF-M 11-22mm

Thanks Adam. According to the moderator of the Canon USA forum, the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens will not ship and be sold in the US:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens. We can certainly understand the confusion surrounding this release! Unfortunately, this specific lens will not be sold or serviced by Canon USA.

Why that? DigitalRev (price depends by check-out location) ships international.

Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens in Stock at Amazon Germany

 EF-M 11-22mm

Amazon Germany has the new Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens for the EOS M system in stock and ready to ship for €399 (click here). I am puzzled by the fact that Amazon US still is not even offering a pre-order option. And why the hell does the lens cost €50 more in France than in Germany? Looks like the EF-M 11-22mm will start to ship in Europe first. Other seller that accept pre-order, or may have the EF-M 11-22mm in stock and ready to ship:

A First Time Into Digital For A Photographic Legend (Don McCullin)

This is a clever, 30 min video by CPN (Canon Professional Network), showing British photographer Don McCullin being introduced to digital photography (to the EOS 5D Mark III in particular). The mentor of the moment is Jeff Ascough, Canon Ambassador of Light. Well, Don McCullin is (or was) a Nikon film camera shooter :-).

It’s a commercial video, that’s true, but I have seen lots of commercials that are much worse than this. This one is a nice and charming video.
