Is there a difference between a pro photog using $500 gear and an amateur using $5000 gear?

EOS 5D Mark IV
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

The folks at Mango Street wanted to know, and thus started a little experiment.

An amateur photographer was given a Canon [shoplink 40051]EOS 5D Mark IV[/shoplink] with [shoplink 34159]EF 35mm f/1.4L II[/shoplink], a pro photographer got the Canon [shoplink 333]Rebel T3i[/shoplink] with a 18-55mm kit lens and the [shoplink 5686]EF 40mm f/2.8 STM[/shoplink] pancake lens.

So, what did the test reveal? Watch the video below.

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II may be announced earlier than July 20/21, 2017

canon rumorsEos 6d mark ii

A few days ago we have been told that Canon will announce the EOS 6D Mark II, Rebel SL2, and a new entry-level MILC (suggested to be named EOS M20) on July 20 or 21, 2017.

The rumor came from a new source and was rated CW2. I have now reasons to believe that Canon may announce the highly-anticipated-still-covered-by-mystery EOS 6D Mark II and the other gear earlier in July 2017. Canon EOS 6D Mark II and Rebel SL2 kit descriptions have been leaked on always reputable Nokishita, a fact suggesting  the announcement may be closer than July 20/21.

The unusual thing here is that we still know nothing reliable about the EOS 6D Mark II. If the announcement is a month (more or less) away, I hope some information will leak soon.

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II may have these features:

  • A newly developed sensor, 28MP is the most likely resolution
  • Dual Pixel AF will be on board. Canon is featuring DPAF on entry-level DSLRs, we can expect it for sure on the EOS 6D Mark II
  • Price around $2,000
  • Unlikely to have 4K video
  • Upgraded AF system
  • Touchscreen
  • Tiltable display
  • Digic 7 (likely)
  • WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Larger viewfinder than EOS 6D
  • Slightly larger than EOS 6D

Stay tuned.

According to Nokishita Canon will announce the EOS 6D Mark II and the Rebel SL2 soon.

The EOS 6D Mark II will come in two kit variants, one with the EF 24-105mm USM and the other with the EF 24-105mm STM lens. The Canon BG-E 21 is the compatible battery grip.

The Canon Rebel SL2 will come as kit with the EF-S 18-55mm and in two color variants, black and white.

We have been told that The Canon EOS 6D Mark II, the Rebel SL2 and new mirrorless camera will be announced on July 20 or 21 2017.

Canon EOS 77D vs EOS 80D vs Rebel T7i comparison (video)

Photographer, reviewer and hardcore raw fan Jared Polin, aka FroKnowsPhoto, compares the new Canon EOS 77D and Rebel T7i with the EOS 80D. The latter is still an outstanding APS-C DSLR, despite being one year old.

Jared Polin has no doubt he would pick the EOS 77D (it’s new and has higher ISO), I would take the EOS 80D instead (better weather sealing and faster). Which one may be the right one for you? Find out in the video below.

The next Canon Mirrorless camera is the EOS M20, to be announced July 20/21?

Eos m10

I have been told (thanks) that the replacement for the Canon EOS M10 will be the Canon EOS M20.

An upcoming, new Canon mirrorless camera has already to some degree leaked. We know about unreleased Canon gear that has been registered at certification authority. Among these is the Canon EOS 6D Mark II (so we think), the Rebel SL2, and a new, supposedly entry-level MILC that we think may be the replacement for the [shoplink 35612]EOS M10[/shoplink]. We were told it will the Canon EOS M20.

It’s rather plausible that Canon will go on with their entry-level mirrorless line-up (though someone may object that all Canon MILCs are entry-level). Beside the suggestion about the moniker, we can be sure that there will be a replacement for the EOS M10.

July 20 or 21 has been suggested to us as the day when Canon will announce the EOS 6D Mark II, the Rebel SL2, and the EOS M20.

However, take it with a grain of salt, especially the moniker M20. This rumor comes from a new source.

Stay tuned.
