Next week [editors note: this week] you’ll see a new Canon interview at a major photography website. In the interview Canon will reveal interesting details about its internal research progress on sensors and other matters. It will also confirm the project to support a new still image format in future Canon cameras.

A new rumor suggests the Canon [shoplink 15884]PowerShot G16[/shoplink] and [shoplink 16066]PowerShot S120[/shoplink] are ready to get replaced. And it may happen soon, in October 2015.

Unfortunately we do not have either the new model names nor a single spec. The rumor suggests the Powershot G16 might feature an electronic viewfinder. The Powershot G16 and S120 were announced in 2013.

Canon released a new firmware for the Canon EOS-1D C (Adorama | B&H Photo), version 1.40. Firmware updates for the EOS-1D C can not be downloaded and installed by the user(here is why).  You have to send in your EOS-1D C to an authorised Canon support center.

Details
Firmware Version 1.4.0 incorporates the following improvements and fixes:

Fixes a phenomenon which occurs when the “Shutter button half-press” menu item, configured in “C.Fn5: Operation”>”Custom Controls Menu”, is set to metering start only; depending on when the shutter button is half-pressed, it may initiate AutoFocus.
