Samyang Working On Another AE Lens And Will Cut Stock For Other Brand Names

DicaHub (translated) has more information about Samyang’s upcoming plans. After yesterday’s announcement of a 35mm f/1.4 lens with automatic exposure for Canon mount (among other lenses), the big question is if Samyang will make more lenses with AE contacts.

According to DicaHub’s interview with Samyang, the Korean lens manufacturer is working on another lens with AE contacts. Most probably for Canon mount (but that’s not clearly stated in the interview). The rumors point to a 85mm f/1.4 AE lens. No hints about when  Samyang may announce the next AE lens.

There is another interesting thing that comes out of the interview. When asked about the many names Samyang uses to brand their lenses, they answered that they recognise the issue and plan to gradually cut stock availability for the other brand names. With one exception: Rokinon. It appears that Rokinon is a major brand name for Samyang, and hence will remain for the time being. Sounds logic to me. Samyang lenses are available with the following brand names: SamyangWalimexRokinonOptekaFalconVivitarBower.
