Photography Blog posted their full review of the brand new Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II camera. They gave it a rating of 4/5.

From the conclusion:

With the introduction of the G5 X Mark II and the G7 X Mark III being at the same time, it’s clear Canon is sending the message that it has something available for every type of consumer. The G5 X Mark II is the better option out of the two if stills photography is your main concern, while vloggers will likely be drawn towards the G7 X Mark III.

Putting all comparisons aside for the moment and looking at the Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II on its own though and it’s a very likeable camera. Its small pocket-friendly size, plus the viewfinder and screen combination make it a very pleasant holiday or travel camera. It’s nice to use, with a good array of buttons and dials, plus a good handgrip for making it feel secure in the hand.

Canon Powershot G7 X Mark III Review (more bang per bucks than Sony RX100 VII, ePHOTOzine)

Canon Powershot G7 X Mark Iii

Canon Powershot G7 X Mark III at a glance:

  • 20.2MP 1″ Stacked CMOS Sensor
  • DIGIC 8 Image Processor
  • 4.2x Optical Zoom f/1.8-2.8 Lens
  • 24-100mm (35mm Equivalent)

ePHOTOzine posted a full review of the new Canon Powershot G7 X Mark III. They gave it a rating of 4/5.

From the conclusion:

The G7X III […] offers a number of updates that should impress both photographers and videographers. Including being able to shoot at 30fps (raw burst), or upto 20fps (with JPEG, raw, or both).

[…] The images from the G7X III, at wide-angle, can be a little soft towards the edges and corners of the frame, and macro performance left us a little disappointed, but in every other situation, results are good. […]

For videographers, the G7 X III with microphone input, 4K video, and 120fps FullHD video will be an easy choice to make, and an immediate purchase choice. There are are only a few minor niggles, that could be the fly in the ointment for some, including the lack of 24fps video recording, and the lens control ring clicks being there. The camera certainly offers much higher “bang per buck” than the RX100 VII fron Sony, which also offers a microphone socket, but at a price of nearly £1200 [and nearly $1,200, editors note].

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III Review (highly recommended, Photography Blog)

  • Built-In Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • Live Streaming & Vertical Video Support

Photography Blog completed their full review of the new Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III.

From their conclusion:

The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III might look familiar on the outside, but rest assured that this is no minor refresh, with a wealth of internal improvements that make it one of Canon’s best compact cameras for both stills photographers and keen vloggers alike.

Chief among them are the new stacked image sensor and latest Digic 8 processor, which combine to make the G7 X III one of the fastest shooting stills cameras and most capable video cameras in the company’s compact line-up. For the first time 4K video with no crop is available – yes, no crop – which is a big milestone for Canon in light of recent 4K releases that have suffered from a heavy crop factor.

Add in the plethora of other advanced video features that are making their debut, including a 3.5mm mic input, live streaming to YouTube over Wifi, support for vertical movies for IG TV, and the 120fps slow-motion mode, and it’s pretty clear that Canon have rather successfully gone all out with the G7 X III to target the vlogging generation.
