No More Canon EOS M In The USA?

Canon EOS M

Canon Rumors found out that the EOS M disappeared from Canon’s USA site, while the 18-55mm IS STM and the 22mm f/2 STM lenses are still listed.

The speculation goes that Canon may no longer sell their mirrorless system in the USA. That would be a pity, then this little camera is a wonderful piece of gear, despite all the harsh (and often unfounded) critics you may have heard. I have it in my bag all the time, also while travelling thru India in this very moment.

The EOS M coupled with the amazing EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens (which was never available in the US) is a lightweight kit that shots great pictures. I never had issues with the EOS M’s AF system, so don’t believe everything that has been said about the AF of the EOS M.

CR speculates that we could see an EF-based mirrorless camera somewhere in the future. I don’t think so.

Canon’s New Marketing Campaign Sparks A Culture Of Striving For More – More Creative Possibilities With Photos And Video When You “Bring It”

New Campaign Includes TV, Theater and Digital Advertising as Well as New Consumer-centric “Bring It” Microsite

MELVILLE, N.Y., May 27, 2014 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to announce a new marketing campaign, “Bring It,” designed to enlighten consumers to a new perspective of telling better stories with higher quality images and video. The campaign, scheduled to roll out this month, features Canon’s line of EOS digital SLR cameras and lenses with a rallying cry for everyone to bring their best images and videos to be shared on the Canon “Bring It” microsite.

With a history dating as far back as the 1930s, Canon brought high-quality photography to market. Then, the heritage brand was the first to bring Hollywood caliber HD video to its digital SLR cameras. Today, Canon builds on its legacy by bringing a movement designed to show the public the value a Canon camera can bring to capture outstanding images and videos. Consumers should not settle for good enough, when they can have great. The new ‘Bring It’ campaign asks the masses to bring their talent, bring everything they have to the art of creating inspiring still and video images.

Well, the post started a sometimes overheated discussion with lots of comments. Now Mr. Northrup posted a new video where he answers to critics and adds some corrections to his previous video.

What do you think about this issue?
