IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation) seems to be a big thing for a lot of people. We are not entirely sure we get the reasons for the hype.

However, latest Canon EOS-1D X Mark III rumor has it that the next iteration of Canon’s flagship will indeed have IBIS on board. That Canon will feature IBIS on future cameras seems to be a pretty sure thing given all the pertinent patents.

According to the source, a prototype of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is already in the hands of selected people. The prototype is said to have the following features:

  • 6K video without a crop
  • Dual CFExpress cards
  • Significant jump in resolution for an EOS-1 series camera
  • New DIGIC processor. Canon doesn’t usually introduce a new DIGIC processor in the EOS-1D series, but that will apparently change this time.
  • IBIS is in prototype cameras

Most likely the EOS-1D X Mark III will be announced in 2020, before the Summer Olympics. As soon as we have a more precise date for the announcement we’ll update you.

Stay tuned.
